Hi I'm Bailey Schmutz

I'm from Bountiful, Utah; I plan to go base jumping one of these days, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love being outside and doing active things. Whatever it may be, from camping to longboarding, from basketball to mountain biking, I love the thrill. Im not very good at lots of them but that makes it easier for me to enjoy it as I get better at it, which is one of the purposes of life, improvement and progression. I also love playing the piano and reading books. One thing I definately learned from High school is that I shouldve spent more time doing both of those things. Again, improvement and progression. I loooooooove spending time with my family, whether we're going on mountain bike rides, or sitting around the dinner table having deep intellectual debates about Lord of the Rings, my family is the best. Right now in life, I am in the beginning stages of college; I'll be starting this fall and we'll see where things go from there.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into a Mormon family and was raised strongly in the Mormon faith. As I have grown up though and gained independence, I have realized the importance of raising a family centered on the teachings of Jesus Christ. I have also gained a real love for the Book of Mormon and the Holy Bible as I have seen the guidance that they bring to people when the effort is made to earnestly study and apply them to life. One thing that being a Mormon has shown me is the true nature of God, our Heavenly Father. He's the father of our spirits, not just something up in the sky that is filled with wrath and anger all the time. The more I have come to understand the gospel and the church, the more I have come to understand that God is someone who wants me to be my best self and to reach my best potential, just like my dad in life does.

How I live my faith

Being happy. The best way that I have been able to help others through this is by having a good and positive attitude. A good attitude is contagious and can turn any situation and task into a fun one. The church provides lots of opportunities to serve those around us and I enjoy being able to see people in a better mood after having some time to be with and serve them. Being an example like this to others helps me fulfill my duty that God has given to each and everyone of us to serve those around us.

Can you tell me about Mormon customs: how you dress for church, what holidays you celebrate, etc.?

Bailey Schmutz
What you wear to church should be your personal best. Usually, all that that will require is a button up shirt and tie with slacks for the men, and a dress or skirt for the women. It's true that God accepts and loves us in anyway but we should try and show respect for Him when we are at church by wearing appropriate Sunday attire. Show more Show less
