Hi I'm Parker

I grew up in Bountiful Utah. I'm a rock climber, skier, and wakeboarder. I am a mormon.

About Me

I am a sports enthusiast. I love all the extreme sports: Skateboarding, Wakeboarding, Skiing, Paintballing, Rock Climbing, and Disco Skating. I also love football and lacrosse and played both sports since I was a kid. I also love chillin out and hit a movie with my friends or family, especially the midnight showings. I love getting some soda pop, hitting some video games or board games, and staying up till the wee hours of the morning with my friends. I love taking vacations with my family, especially to lake powell. I am a big outdoors person and also love camping with my family and friends. I believe that there are few things better in the world that roughin it out in the outdoors with the people you love. I also LOVE music. I love listening to bands like Death Cab for Cutie, Phoenix and Arcade Fire. I love cruising with my sister with the windows down and just belting the lyrics to some of our favorite songs. I also play the piano and love to try to write my own songs.

Why I am a Mormon

This may be the A typical answer, but I am Mormon because I was born into the church. Having said that I am completely independent in my religious views. Yes my parents taught me about the gospel, but they never forced me to do anything. Through study and prayer I have found that this church is true. The biggest motivating factor for me in staying true to the LDS faith is love. I have a deep love for the Lord Jesus Christ and know that he lives! He is the ultimate message of hope and has changed my life. I know it may be hard to believe, but that leap of faith opened my eyes and has brought me more joy than any 'fun' activity I have every participated in. Although the world is in turmoil and despair right now, nothing can dim the hope and optimism that comes from a belief in Christ. I know that. I know that God has a plan for us and the end goal of that plan is hapiness... in this life and the next life. I have seen God's hand in my life both directly and indirectly. I have had 3 near death experiences (one as a baby in a moterhome, one as a young teen with a skateboard concussion, and one in a wreck on the way home from lake powell). In those experiences I have literally seen god's hand. But I see God and his love in the mountains, in the amazing rock features at lake powell, in the colors we see every day and take for granted, for the music that makes us feel ALIVE. I know the Lord lives and I know that he has restored his plan of happiness today for us!

How I live my faith

I love going to church and interacting and helping others. One of the amazing programs the church has instituted to help others is the Home Teaching Program. This essentially means I have a couple families (or apartments of college students) that you visit monthly to check up on and assist. This program is amazing because it really builds a solid support system for members of the church. Satan, that cunning liar, seeks to single us out, discourage us, and drag us into a life of misery and sorrow. Yet, when united together, Satan has far less power to destroy us. The home teaching system is a great way to promote unity and fight the attacks of the devil. I also live my faith through training missionaries for the church at the Missionary Training Center. Missionary work is a big part of my life because it has everything to do with Jesus Christ and his Atonement. I bear testimony of Jesus Christ as the Savior of the world and the Savior of the individual on a daily basis. He has become one of my closest friends and "saves" or strengthens and uplifts me on a daily basis. I am forever grateful for my Reedemer!

What is the First Vision?

Parker
The first vision is a monumental event that began the restoration or bringing back of Christ's true church, authorized to administer the ordinances of salvation. Joseph Smith, a young boy, asked God in faith which church was true. As a result, he was visited by God who revealed to Joseph that none of the Churches at the time had God's complete approval. Over the process of several years, Joseph Smith was called to be the instrument through which Jesus Christ would establish his church on the earth again for the salvation of all who are willing. What is the Book of Mormon?

Parker
The Book of Mormon is the greatest resource in conversion. Through the mercy, love, and power of our God, this book was translated to provide us with guidance and direction. It is the platform from which we can receive guidance from God on a daily basis. It is the key to knowing that the Church has been restored which restoration gives us complete access to Christ's healing power through baptism. Show more Show less

What is the priesthood?

Parker
To me the priesthood is the privilege and responsibility of representing Jesus Christ. Those who hold priesthood keys represent Christ in giving guidance and direction to those they lead. They also authorize and make crystal clear the way for us to receive Christ's atoning sacrifice in our life. Jesus Christ wants us to have "no disputations" when it comes to following him and for that reason there is only one way to follow Christ and be changed by him: accepting authorized covenants through the priesthood ordinances. There is no other way, because if there was, confusion would be introduced and God is not a God of confusion, but of peace :) Show more Show less
