Hi I'm Treven

I'm from Denver Colorado, I am serving a Mission in Santa Rosa, California, and I'm a Mormon

About Me

I am currently serving as a Missionary in Santa Rosa, California. I love this chance I have to serve the Lord with all my heart, might mind, and strength. I went to college for a year before I started serving, and I want to go back to study Math. I have a good memory, and Math comes easy for me. Someday I hope to have a family and a good job to support them. I like playing tennis, soccer, football, and frisbee. I also like to play board games and quote movies and just have a fun time.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints because I know for myself that it is true. I didn't take my parents' word for it, but I did read the Book of Mormon. After reading and pondering, I prayed to Heavenly Father to know if it was true. After much effort and repeating this process, I received an answer by the power of the Holy Ghost. I know that I can repeat this if I ever have a doubt, and the power of the Holy Ghost will confirm to me that it is true. Like the Bible, I have found that applying the teachings to my own life help me to be happier every day, and give me a knowledge that I can have happiness after this life. That is part of the answer I got as well. Through Jesus Christ, I believe that all things are possible.

How I live my faith

I do my best everyday to show my faith by my works. I have sacrificed a lot to be on a mission. I have served in various callings in the church. I love Home Teaching, and I do my best to be a reliable Home Teacher, even when it's hard. I am doing my best to be a good Missionary. I know the Lord will help me in every calling, especially being a missionary.

What do Mormons believe concerning the doctrine of grace?

The doctrine of Grace in our church is that it is divine help from God. It's not something that takes away from my personal responsibility to follow Christ though. Some of the ways that divine help affects my life is it makes it possible for me to overcome trials that come my way, it allows for me to receive strength on a daily basis to overcome doubt with faith, and it is the whole reason I will be saved in the Kingdom of God. An example of grace that helps me is the Atonement or sacrifice of Jesus Christ. Another example is the Plan of Salvation that God has put in place for me. Grace combined with a correct use of my agency is what allows me to become more like Jesus Christ and change more than just my actions, but actions, thoughts, words, even my very nature. Why don’t women hold the priesthood in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints? How do Mormon women lead in the Church?

I think that this question is asked because the world has a mixed up view of Motherhood and the Priesthood. Motherhood can be viewed as restrictive, burdensome, or an obligation and the Priesthood viewed only as superiority, privilege, or power. I feel that both of these views are simply the views of the world that the Adversary would have us believe. As we study the true nature of God, we will learn that both Motherhood and the Priesthood are great responsibilities with great blessings. I have learned from my Mother that Motherhood is a responsibility that requires patience, charity, love, and faith; and is ennobling and sanctifying in a Woman's desire and effort to become even as the Savior Jesus Christ is. The Priesthood is much the same way. It's a responsibility that has helped me to be more spiritually mature, responsible, charitable, and repentant; which helps me prepare to be a better Husband, Father, and Leader and ultimately as Christ-like as I can. Motherhood helps women develop their unique traits and strengths to be the best they can while the Priesthood helps men develop their unique traits and strengths to be the best that they can. Why do you have 12 Apostles? They were just meant to be around for the time of Jesus Christ, not to be replaced with new apostles.

Apostles have a very special purpose. It is true that they weren't around before the time of Jesus Christ, but their calling is to be special witnesses of Christ and His resurrection from the dead. Anytime the true Church of Jesus Christ is on this earth, Apostles should be there to testify that he did come in the meridian of time. They also help me to understand where doctrine comes from. The conflicting doctrines of the world would not contradict one another if they were true. The doctrine from Apostles and a Prophet is what helps us to know things as they really are.
