Hi I'm Bob S.

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a 50 year old with a career in Sales, and I am serving my small community on the local fire department for 30 years now. I am married and have raised 3 kids who are now 16, 18 and 20 years old. I joined the Church when I was 26 years old. And, I am happy!

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised Catholic by my wonderful parents. There were many things in the Catholic faith that I just didn't understand and just didn't make sense to me. My girlfriend at the time introduced me to the Church. I found some of the beliefs of the Mormon church to be very similar to the Catholic church, and very different on other beliefs. I have the type of personality that needs things proven to me. I frustrated my girlfriend, missionaries and other members of this church because of this stubbornness. It was not until I truly started to pray and "spiritually" understand the beliefs of the Mormon church. I was not going to change my faith for anyone other than myself. One night when I was praying in bed and listening for answers, it hit me. I did have that special feeling in my heart and soul as I was always hoping for. This feeling came 7 years after I started studying the Mormon faith. Baptism into the Mormon church was the greatest thing that I have done. I wish all of my family and friends could have this same feeling that I experienced 24 years ago. I am happy, and I am Mormon!

How I live my faith

I believe that when someone talks about me to another, the comments made should reflect my beliefs of the way a Mormon should live. Service to others is the best way to accomplish this. I am a leader with our youth, and we accomplish many service projects throughout the year. I believe that myself and the youth benefit more from these projects than the people we are helping benefit from it.

To what do you attribute the growth of the Church?

Reading the paper, watching the news and see all of the problems in the world, there is a great feeling knowing that the beliefs of the Mormon faith can in many ways change these problems that the world is faced with on a daily basis. Many people have found this to be true by studying and learning about the Mormon faith. Show more Show less
