Hi I'm Tyler

I am a student, love playing guitar and I am a Mormon.

About Me

I was raised in the church and grew up in a loving family in central California. I have two brothers and two sisters. I have always loved music. I picked up guitar a few years ago and love sitting down and jamming out or making my own music. I am also picking up piano which is awesome as well. Sports is another hobby of mine. I did two years of church service in the Las Vegas and Reno areas and absolutely loved it! I have such a love for people that I developed from those two years of service and I would not trade that experience for the world. Right now I am a student studying mechanical engineering. I have discovered that I have a love for learning which has helped me a lot so far with school. Even though school can be hard I am grateful for the challenge and the chance to learn and grow academically.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the church, but that is not my point of conversion. My point of conversion came when I was around ten years old. One night I felt a deep desire to know if my Father in Heaven was really there, and if he watches over me. I remembered my father's story of when he was truly converted and when he gained a belief in this church through prayer. I decided that I needed to know if this church was true so I prayed to my loving Heavenly Father in order to find out. I remember kneeling next to my bed and praying to know if God was there. After I had asked I felt a strong burning in my chest and I felt happy and calm. That was the point where I knew my Heavenly Father was there. This church is true. I know it is so because every time I talk to people about the Gospel of Jesus Christ I feel of my Heavenly Father's love and I feel the Holy Ghost with me. We have a modern day Prophet that is God's mouthpiece on earth. He is there to help us as we strive to get closer to Christ. Our Heavenly Father loves each one of us and I will never feel happier than when I feel His love for me.

How I live my faith

I did two years of church service in Las Vegas and Reno which ended in August 2012. Now I help out in my local congregation helping others to develop their belief in Christ. Of course being an example of who Christ is, is the most important thing I can do with my life. The way He lived is the way I strive to fashion my life. I owe everything to Him and even though I will never be perfect like He is I can try to become like Him and share the happiness He has given me with those I meet.

Who founded Mormonism and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints?

Joseph Smith is recognized as the worldly founder of this church. However this church is the church that was in Jesus Christ's time and in Moses's time and in Adam's time and has the same gospel and teachings as those churches, so in reality this Church has existed for a much longer time and traces its foundings back to Jesus Christ and God. Why are only some Mormons allowed into temples? Is there something secret going on in Mormon Temples? What goes on in Mormon Temples?

The Temple is the closest to God you can get in this life. God wants you to be prepared to enter the temple before you do. There is nothing secret going on in the temple however what happens in the temple is so sacred that God does not want it to be talked about outside of the temple. However we can tell you that sacred ordinances are done in the temple that help us come closer to Christ. Much of what goes on in the temple is for those who have passed on. We can do sacred ordinances in their place so they can have the blessings that we have. Show more Show less

Why is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints called Mormons or Mormonism?

The Book of Mormon is a sacred book that we read along with the Bible. Mormon was an ancient prophet who abridged the Book of Mormon and compiled it into the book it is now. When persecution started in the mid 1800s the slang term "Mormons" came about. It is similar to when the Christians got their name. At the time it was deragatory, but now it is an acceptable term. So it is with the nickname Mormons. Show more Show less
