Hi I'm Alan

I grew up in Hawaii'. I'm an architect . I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a father of 5 children and a grandfather of 12. I am an architect with an interest in various design and artistic pursuits. I am also a real estate agent and I enjoy touring residential properties. I love the beach and outdoor sports activities, especially golf.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in the Episcopal faith. During my late teenage years I felt a need to explore my religious beliefs. I was very confused about the purpose of life and my relationship with God. I had no real connection with God and I felt alone with no real identity. I met a young lady who was a Mormon and she invited me to meet the missionaries of the church. I vividly remember watching the film "Christ in the America's" which related the American Indian legend of a "White God" that would return to the American continent. The missionaries helped me to understand that this legend was based on the fact that Jesus Christ had come to visit the American continent shortly after His resurrection as described in the Book of Mormon and those who witnessed that event had passed on the legend concerning His second coming. I began to understand that God was very aware of all His children and that He is a loving Father. My faith and understanding continued to grow as I heard the story of the restoration of Christ's church to the Earth through the prophet Joseph Smith and as I read the Book of Mormon. I now know that God lives and that He sent His Son Jesus Christ to the Earth to atone for the sins of the world. I know that they love us so much that they want us to return to live with them and have restored the same organization that existed when Jesus Christ was on the Earth through the prophet Joseph Smith with divine authority to perform sacred ordinances for our eternal salvation.

How I live my faith

I am currently serving in the church as a Bishop. A Bishop is the leader of a church congregation and has the responsibility to watch over and coordinate the church organization in a specific geographical area. I work primarily with the families in the congregation to help them with the challenges that they face. I also coordinate the community outreach programs in which we participate including Meals on Wheels, the Church Shop and the local community resources collaboration program which brings together various churches and community resources to help meet the needs of the community at large. Each year we plan and perform an annual service project for the community in cooperation with another non-Mormon congregation to help meet the needs of the community and to foster ties with others in the community.
