Hi I'm Whit

I try to make my life beautiful and good on the daily. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a wife and a mama to a sweet baby boy. I currently live in the desert-y southwest, which I love, but being from the eastern side of the U.S. my dreams are made of green. I'd love to someday have a big garden in my yard. Being a new mama is wonderful. I'm still adjusting in a lot of ways but the love I feel for my son is worth all the adjustment. And it's FUN! I love watching my son grow and learn. Interacting with him is the best. Baby giggles are THE BEST. Being a wife is also wonderful. My husband is the best and creating our life together is FUN! I graduated from a university with a degree in English Literature. I studied abroad in Scotland for a term, which was dreamy. Reading and writing will always be my most loved activity. I'm also trying to improve in other arts, photography and painting specifically. I'd love to try calligraphy as well. Other things I love: being outside, eating good food, vegetables, chocolate, becoming organized, simplicity, flowers (and cacti!), and being active. I especially love a good bike ride and chia seed pudding with mango and pistachios and some dark chocolate chips. I love Jesus Christ. I want to be like him.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I know God is my Heavenly Father and that He loves me. I know that Jesus Christ is his son and that he lived and died so that we, normal human beings, can return to live with Heavenly Father and our families forever. I know that the Book of Mormon is the word of God and that it testifies of Jesus Christ. I know that being "Mormon" means you belong to Christ's church. I know these things because as I've prayed and asked God about these things, I have felt God's Holy Spirit. I know these bring peace and happiness. That is what I want.

How I live my faith

I serve in my church with the teenage girls (12-18). I am in charge of the whole "young women's" program in our neighborhood, which is a lot of work and definitely can be challenging. It's also very fun. I remember the challenges in my life when I was a teenager and I know these girls are at such an important time in their lives. It's now that many of them will choose to live their faith and do so for the rest of their life, or go the other direction. When I was a teenager, there were two most important spiritual things I knew to be true. 1. God is my Heavenly Father and He loves me. 2. The Book of Mormon is the word of God. Because I knew these things I decided to live my faith. I decided to keep the moral standards of my faith, although these moral standards are Oren viewed as uncool. I was successful. And all good things in my life have come because of that decision. Increased faith. The opportunity to meet my husband, be someone he was interested in, and marry him. Decide to be a mother. It helped me understand, as a teenager, that my self-worth came because God is my Father, and is totally unrelated to how cool others think I am. It helped me be confident. It helped me overcome feelings of depression and doubt. Most of all, it helped me to feel the peace that "passeth all understanding" (Philippians 4:7) and the joy that comes with living as Jesus Christ would have me. I want the teenage girls I serve to feel the same peace and happiness. I try to help them believe and live the spiritual teachings that have been so wonderful for me. I also want to teach my son these things. I try to live my faith most of all so that my son will see my example and feel the goodness of Jesus Christ's teachings, and want to live them himself.
