Hi I'm Jonathan

I'm a web developer. I'm Taiwanese American. I'm a proud uncle. And I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm the second of five children, born into a family of Taiwanese heritage and raised in the suburbs of Washington DC. I served a mission for my church in Melbourne Australia to share the restored gospel of Jesus Christ. I'm now a web developer for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Why I am a Mormon

My grandparents originally came from various backgrounds of Daoist traditions and Christian beliefs, particularly Presbytarianism. However, after studying the doctrines of this restored gospel, they decided to unite themselves with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, nicknamed the Mormon Church. My father and mother joined the church a bit later in their teenage years. And so I was raised according to the principles of this church, to love God above all else and to love others as you would love yourself. While I did not fully understand the depth of the gospel in my youth, I have come to a deeper appreciation for the teachings of God as I strive to develop a personal relationship with God and to serve those around me. The great changes that have been introduced into my life by the gospel of Jesus Christ have helped me through innumerable trials. And so, while I may not know everything yet, I know that having the gospel in my life has been an incredibly positive blessing and so I will continue to live by the principles of this gospel, having faith that I will continue to see the blessings of God in my life.

How I live my faith

I began a full-time mission to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ near the close of the year 2009. During this mission, missionaries focus all of their time and energy on 'inviting others to come unto Christ by helping them receive the restored gospel'. I've been called to served in the city of Melbourne, Australia, and I've been blessed with the additional opportunity to learn the language of my forefathers Mandarin Chinese. As the old Chinese saying goes, '好东西跟好朋友分享' or 'Share good things with good friends'. I've been able to make many friends during the past one and a half years and being able to utilize this time to serve my God and help others to come to know Him better has been a most rewarding experience. Our primary purpose is to invite those not of our faith to learn of the restored gospel and to support those who have already accepted the gospel. On the side, we also offer service in whatever forms they may come in, whether they be helping oversea students with English assignments or beautifying whichever gardens and yards that may need such assistance, but we feel that the greatest act of service that we are capable of giving is the sharing of the restored gospel of Jesus Christ to all who are seeking to find God.
