Hi I'm Cathy

I'm an English teacher, a mom, a wife, a sister, a daughter, and a friend. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a happily married mother of three children. I have a son and a daughter of my own, and I also have a step-son. I just finished my Bachelor's Degree in Secondary Education/English, and I am hoping to have my own classroom very soon. I currently work in both a high school and a middle school as a long-term substitute and an after-school instructor. I love the outdoors, and enjoy walking and playing tennis. My priorities are faith, family, and profession. I love my husband and my children, and I know that I have been richly blessed.

Why I am a Mormon

I was brought up in a loving family, and I was raised Catholic. I had difficulty finding a close connection to Heavenly Father through Catholicism, so when I became a mother, I began searching for that connection. That search led me to the Lutheran church, and then to the United Methodist Church. After the death of my father, I felt as low as I had ever been in my entire life, and the pain brought me literally to my knees. I humbly asked Heavenly Father to help me, and I put my grief upon my Savior. Through events that happened after my prayer, I was able to invite the missionaries into my home and learn about Heavenly Father's plan for me and for my children. I don't know where I would be now if I had not opened my heart and my mind to what I now know is the restored gospel of our Savior Jesus Christ. My life on this earth has so much meaning, and I understand where I was before I came here, what my mission is now that I am here, and where I will be going when this mission is over. I have been blessed a thousand times over for making the right choices regarding my relationship with Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. I have found such joy and peace in my life. I am thankful for the knowledge that I now have that allows me to understand that I am a beautiful daughter of Heavenly Father. I am so grateful for my many blessings. I love my Heavenly Father and my Savior, Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

From the very first moment that I walked into a Mormon church, it felt like home. It's hard to describe in words, because it was a warm feeling that I had not felt in other churches. I currently have a church calling in the Primary, which is where the children are taught. I can't tell you what a rewarding experience it is to teach young children about their Heavenly Father and about their Heavenly Brother, Jesus Christ. The children are so wonderful, and I enjoy all that I have to teach them and all that they have to teach me!

Do Mormons only help Mormons?

Mormons understand that we are all children of Heavenly Father. In that regard, Mormons believe that it is right to treat others as we want to be treated. Through the restored gospel of Jesus Christ, and the knowledge that comes from being a Latter Day Saint, Mormons see all people as brothers and sisters. We call each other brother or sister because we understand that we are all children of God. Show more Show less
