Hi I'm Ed

I grew up in Colorado where my family joined the Mormon church. I now enjoy being a Mormon living in Texas.

About Me

I work for a large insurance company and spend a fair amount of time traveling and meeting with agents. I used to think that traveling for work would be fun and a chance to see the country. After 24 years of traveling for work, I have learned well that most of my time is spent in airports, agents offices, restaurants, and hotel rooms. Not much sightseeing gets done during business trips. When I get the chance to relax, I like to get out and take pictures. My favorite subject is birds. I live along the coast of Texas and have come to love the endless supply of birds. I also spend a good amount of time photographing flowers and butterflies. Every once in a while I get talked into taking family photos for friends and photographing weddings. I come cheap (free). Another fun activity my wife and I enjoy is camping. We starting camping together early in our marriage, enjoyed taking our children camping and now find ourselves getting the opportunity to take our grandchildren with us. My real passion is the joy I get out of spoiling my grandchildren. I have long warned my children that this is what I would do and am doing my best to keep my promise to them. Family has always been important to me and I find great joy in being with my wife, children and grandchildren. I thank God every day for the blessings of being a husband and father.

Why I am a Mormon

I know that this is Christ's church. I have studied the gospel in depth, I have prayed about it, and I have had the spirit confirm to me that it is true. But the thing I like best is that it makes sense to me. My wife will tell you that I am not a very emotional person. I like things to be simple and logical. The gospel of Jesus Christ, as I know it, is simple and logical. It's teaching are all about a loving Father who wants me to come home to Him, but is not going to force me to do it. My job is to continue to improve my life and become more like Him. In other words, it is all about direction. As long as I keep moving in His direction, then one day Christ will forgive me all my sins so that I can stand as a perfect man in His presence. The joy of having Christ in my life and the thought that I can some day be in His presence is why I am a Mormon. And my hope is always that I will be given the strength and wisdom to help my family and friends be there with me.

How I live my faith

Most of my callings in the church have put me working with the youth. My wife and I were recently asked to work with the young single adults in our congregation. We hold Family Home Evening in our home every Monday night where these young adults teach each other about the gospel. About once a month, we replace our gospel lessons with a fun activity. On Sundays, I teach the young single adults the gospel in a Sunday School class. In addition to my activities in the church, I belong to the local art league. It is fun to be able to display my photographs and share my love of nature and my passion for photography.
