Hi I'm Joseph

I'm a Filipino, a dancer, a beach-lover, free-runner, a missionary, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Growing up in Philippines and California I've love playing basketball & tennis, breakdancing and learning more about the Gospel. Although as I was in school, my family went through lots of ups and downs and changes within our family life. Certain "ups and downs" just led us to getting inactive in the church. Eventually I ended up having a split family. This truly hit me hard and even made me question my faith. Although as time went on, I experienced many more things that made me look back to how it was when I had the gospel in my life, when I showed Faith in Jesus Christ, when I was happy and experiencing joy. I yearned for those feelings to come back, and I felt a hole in my soul that needed to filled. I knew where to look, but was hesitant and scared that I was going to be judged by my "peers". Then as my priorities changed in my life, those "peers" didn't matter as much to me, as a relationship with my Heavenly Father, which I truly needed. Eventually we, as a family knew that we needed to seek that relationship with our Heavenly Father that we truly needed. As time went on, we started coming back to church, and became active again. With the help of rightheous friends, scripture study, personal prayer, and an always loving Heavenly Father, we gained that relationship we were in need of! I now can say, I know that this is true! I am now serving as a representative of the Lord Jesus Christ, in city of Las Vegas, sharing my testimony to all those that I come in contact with!

Why I am a Mormon

As I grew up in Philippines, I have always been part of this church. Although it hasn't always been part of me. I had to find out for myself if this church was true. One way or another, we can and will come to a knowledge of the truth if we ask God in sincere prayer, I did. The reason I stay faithful to this gospel is because, well I have many reasons. From this gospel I have come to know my Savior personally. Through that I have been able to stay strong through trials and afflictions. I know that everyone in this world goes through hard times, but with the gospel of Jesus Christ in my life, it has made it a much easier process to get through it. Also I able to have an eternal perspective through my life. There's always a reason why certain things happen in life, and through the gospel I've been able to gain a better understanding for God's will. Another reason is for a knowledge of God's plan for us. Through the plan of salvation, I know where I came from, why am I here, and where I am going to be after this life. Through the Book of Mormon and the Bible we are able to have the fullness of his plan available to us. This has helped me see the importance of my life and how I have a true reason of being part of this world. The only reason we are able to have the fulness of this gospel is because it has been restored to us, through the prophet Joseph Smith. And as part of that process, we were able to recieve another set of scriptures, the Book of Mormon. Through this I have been able to gain a better understanding and knowledge of Jesus Christ. I know that the Book of Mormon is true and is the keystone of this true church.

How I live my faith

As of right now, I live my faith by serving as a full-time missionary, or representative of the Lord, Jesus Christ. Day by day, for the time of 2 years, I continually look and seek for those who are willing to listen to the message we have to share about Him and His restored gospel. From 10am-9pm, we visit people in their homes and share a message of peace and joy that can come from knowing the truthfulness of this gospel. Day by day I study the scriptures and learn as much as I can from the Bible and the Book of Mormon. We, as representatives of Jesus Christ, help people gain better Faith in Him, and help them build a personal relationship with our Heavenly Father, and also come to a knowledge if these things are true. Daily I pray to my Heavenly Father and ask Him to lead us to where we need to go, and to help us say what we need to say, so that we may do what our Lord and Redeemer would do.

Do Mormons worship Joseph Smith?

Mormons do not worship Joseph Smith, but truly cherish his life and love him for being a true, dedicated, prophet, of the Lord. We speak of him often for the fact that he was chosen to be the prophet to restore the same church Jesus Christ established on the earth. Through him, we are able to have the true principles and teachings of our Savior Jesus Christ. After a long period of spiritual darkness, God saw fit to restore the fullness of His gospel through Joseph Smith. Because of this we are able to enjoy the blessings that come from a true knowledge of our Savior, Jesus Christ and Heavenly Father. Show more Show less

In whom should we have faith?

The basis of Faith should be in our Savior, Jesus Christ. Through Him we can return back to our Heavenly Father and be with our families together forever. Through Him we can feel forgiven and comforted at times of trial. Through Him, we can come overcome all things. This is truly the first principle of the gospel. Show more Show less

Why is authority to perform a baptism important?

A man must have the priesthood, which is authority from God given to man to act in His name, to perform ordinances necessary to return back to our Father in Heaven and be with our families together forever. This is essential, the priesthood that is, so as we perform sacred ordinances, such as baptism, it will be valid and recognized by our Father in Heaven. If baptism is performed without the priesthood, it is a great sign of faithfulness exercised by that person, but it is not enough, or even recgonized by our Father in Heaven. For that man didn't have the authority to perform that ordinance, which is the gateway to heaven. Even the apostles of the old times were given the authority to perform those ordinances and keep all things in order after the death of Jesus Christ. Show more Show less

What are some things that tell you there is a God?

There are so many things in this world that tell or show me that there is a God. One of those many things, is my own life. Try to ask yourself, where did you come from, why am I here, and where am I going after this life? I've asked myself these questions and as I found answers through the gospel of Jesus Christ, I've learned that God has ever been so present, even from before the beginning of time. In this Earth, he has provided has everything that is essential to our survival, such as air, water, families, and His church. Show more Show less
