Hi I'm Allan

I'm a scientist and a Mormon

About Me

I'm a husband, father, and grandfather. I retired after 40 years working as a geologist. I think the earth is a wonderful creation of Heavenly Father. I love photography, art, history, and reading. I have traveled all over the world but like home best. I was baptized into the Mormon Church when I was a young boy.

Why I am a Mormon

I choose to live my life as a Mormon because I have received a spiritual witness that God lives and that he restored the original Church of Jesus Christ to the earth through the prophet Joseph Smith. I believe in the Savior Jesus Christ and that his Atonement gives me a second chance. I feel the Spirit's influence as I serve other people. I know absolutely that the Book of Mormon, Another Testament of Jesus Christ, is the word of God given to prophets among ancient people on the American continent and that it contains the pure words of Christ. I have felt the Spirit's promptings and aid many times in my life.

How I live my faith

I try to be kind and helpful to others. I try to be a good son, husband, father, and grandfather. I believe that my faith should motivate my actions so I try to serve others as Jesus Christ did. I feel His Spirit helping me in my service and telling me that he is pleased when I follow His example.

Is it true that Jesus appeared in North America after his crucifixion and resurrection according to the Book of Mormon?

Allan
Jesus Christ is the Lord of the whole earth. He informed the Jews during his ministry "I am the good shepherd, and know my sheep, and am known of mine." He then said "And other sheep I have, which are not of this fold; them also I must bring, and they shall hear my voice; and there shall be one fold, and one shepherd". (John 10:14, 16) The sheep he referred to were those who had left the old world and traveled to the new world. After Christ's crucifixion and resurrection he did appear to the righteous decendents of the migrated Israelites. When he appeared he said to them, "Behold, I am Jesus Christ whom the prophets testified shall come into the world." And later, as he taught them, he explained "ye are they of whom I said: Other sheep I have which are not of this fold; them also I must bring, and they shall hear my voice; and there shall be one fold, and one shepherd...ye are my sheep, and ye are numbered among those whom the Father hath given me." (3 Nephi 11:10; 3 Nephi 15:21,24) I know that Jesus Christ visited ancient America and established his church. You can know, too, by reading the Book of Mormon and praying to know the truth.
