Hi I'm David

My name is David and I've been a Mormon since 1973.

About Me

I am a father of 4 sons. I enjoy all sports and enjoy my community service and my church service.  I work in the dental industry and am retired from the United States Air Force.

Why I am a Mormon

I was not a Mormon growing up as a child or teenager but was introduced to the Mormon Church (The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints) after I entered the military and began a career in dentistry. I read the Book of Mormon and information on Joseph Smith and his vision of Heavenly Father and His son Jesus Christ, and prayed about the truthfulness of what I was taught by my friend and the full-time missionaries from the Mormon Church about this doctrine. I know the answers to my prayers came from God and I decided to be baptized in 1973 and have never regretted my decision, I know today, even more than I did then that the Mormon Church is Jesus Christ's church, restored in these Latter-Days, and that He is at its head and work through living prophets and apostles.

How I live my faith

I strive to live by the teaching of my Savior, Jesus Christ, every day. I know my Savior lives today and is real and wants me to become as He is!! I serve in my church as a Branch President (presiding leader over about 200 members) and love working with both members and non-members of our church and in my community. I am a Rotarian and believe fully in the Rotarian principle of "Service above Self"!! We are all God's children and will have to account for our lives here upon this earth and my goal is to one day be worthy to enter back into His presence and the presence of my Savior, Jesus Christ, with my wife and children.

Why don’t women hold the priesthood in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints? How do Mormon women lead in the Church?

David
I would refer someone to our "Proclamation on the Family" which gives a sound reasoning for this question. Men and Women are equal in Heaven Father's eyes but have different roles in mortality but all can receive all He has after this life.  Show more Show less

How are modesty and chastity related? How can parents teach their children to be modest in dress, language and behavior?

David
Modesty reflects what you think about yourself and the respect you have for your body and others as modesty, or the lack thereof, can affect you and others in both positive and negative ways. Modesty can affect affect actions relating to Chastity and therefore is in direct relation to Chastity.  Show more Show less

How can we stop the spread and influence of pornography?

David
Recognize it is a choice in what we decide to allow into our lives and that using pornography is not contribute to out spritual thoughts and actions. We can help others realize this also with our conversations and actions. Also, making sure our elected officials understand our values and the negative effects of pornography can help with laws against it in our communities. Those who participate in pornographic behavior should seek competent professional and spiritual counseling and find out if their behavior is compulsive or if it may be due to an addiction. Understanding compulsive verses addictive behavior and how to control or overcome urges, feelings, actions and negative behavior will be very important in contributing to stopping the spread and influence of pornography.
