Hi I'm Brian Shurtliff

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I served as a missionary studying the good word of God. Teaching the good people of Utah. I have been married a year April 2015 and I know am working on a Civil Engineering degree. Then on to bigger and better things. I was born and raised in a small town in north eastern British Columbia, Canada. We were big enough to have a Walmart about 14km (10 miles) away. Not even on the Map. With all the wildlife you can imagine, I love spending time out doors; hiking, snow boarding, snow shoeing, kayaking, and canoeing.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up as a Mormon, but I have had to find out if it is true on my own. It did not come in any vision or angel appearing. It came slowly. I first kept the commandments and did what felt right. As I was in High school I began to question as my friends asked me, "Why do you live such a dull life, not drinking and hanging out on the weekends with us?" I had to then find out why. Why did I do all I do? Why do I keep the Word of Wisdom? I began to pray about how I should respond to my friends questions. I then realized that I already knew it was true. It came slowly, more like a sunrise then a specific moment. And every time I doubt and have to solidify my testimony, God is always there to lift me up. He testifies of the the fact that this is his church, once again established on the earth. I am just blessed enough to be a part of it. The spirit has witnessed that to me and he can for you as well. Listen to the feeling that the spirit brings. He will witness to your mind and heart.

How I live my faith

I served a full-time mission for the church; in the Utah Ogden Mission, and loved every minute of it. Life is great! I love to see others learn about our Savior Jesus Christ and follow his example. Before my mission I did all in my power to keep living my faith. Going Home Teaching with my Dad to the fellow members in our area. I attended church and kept Christ as a focus in my life. Being a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is not always easy. It is Just worth every minute of it.

How are the activities of the Mormon missionaries funded?

Brian Shurtliff
With experience as a missionary I had to worry about the financial issue that comes with a mission. As a missionary you are asked to come up with the money yourself. Being a missionary is not a paid position in our faith. I worked hard once I decided to go on a mission to have the necessary funds to be blessed to go and share the gospel with children of God.
