Hi I'm Tevis

I'm a Mormon

About Me

I am 21 years old and just finished serving a mission in Charlotte North Carolina, I have a been a member of this church all of my life and I love it. I like to sing and write. My parents are both members and my dad is a convert to the church no one else on his side is a member and are mostly catholic. My moms side is all members of the LDS church. In high school I was a member of the FFA and also in the school choir.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a member of this church because I know that because God loves us he called another prophet to restore the Gospel to the earth. How I know this is by reading and praying about the Book of Mormon. I truly know that it is a book that contains writings of the ancient prophets here in America. As well as the bible. I know that Christ has visited this place and God has answered my prayer to tell me that this is the path that I should follow. His plan of happiness makes so much sense to me. And I know that I will be able to see my loved ones again if I live faithfully in this life. I know that Christ lives and that he died for all of our sins. But also that he was resurrected on the third day so that we could all live again also.

How I live my faith

I have served an honorable full-time mission for 2 years and sacrificed that time completely to the lord. I attend church as often as possible. I have participated in the churchs geneology program in making an index of names so people can find there anscestors. I try as often as I can to help other people and try to love and be caring like the Savior did.

Are all Mormons required to serve a mission?

No there is no requirement that a person of the LDS faith serve a mission. Young men however are encouraged to prepare and serve a mission when that young man turns 19. However they do not have too, Young women are not recommended to serve missions but if they want to they can, after looking at there priorities and figuring out if that is something that they want to do. So no it is not required to serve a mission if you are a member of our faith. As with most things in our church you will see that we give people agency (freedom to choose). We have our doctrines and we are taught them, but it is our personal choice as to whether we obey those teachings or not. The same goes with what our leaders tell us. We can choose to obey, or we can choose to not obey. And we will suffer the consequences of whatever choice we make either in this life or in the life here after. Show more Show less
