Hi I'm Andy

I'm half Chinese. I speak Spanish. And I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in the Central Valley of California. I loved it. It was a nice, small, and humble town with nice people. But, after some family events, I moved to the Bay Area. There I met many many people that have changed the course of my life and who I am today. For that, I am very grateful. Well, I'm a pretty normal guy. Nothing too out of the ordinary I guess. At least I don't think so, although I'm sure my sister would disagree. I love watching movies, listening/playing music piano, ukulele, flute, and hanging out with friends. And of course, the occasional video game.

Why I am a Mormon

Why I'm a Mormon.... Well, that is a good question. Long story short, my mother started going back to church when I was about 7 years old due to some family-related events, and I went with her. A year later I was baptized and was confirmed a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. When I was 18 going on 19, getting closer to the age of being a missionary. So, as you can probably guess, it was something pressing on my mind. A lot. I began talking to my Bishop (he that presides over a congregation), sorting out all the things that I needed to change or to accomplish to be able to serve a full-time 2 year mission. Now, during this whole time, I started to become very flustered and very unsure. Unsure about what? Everything, basically. If the church was even real or true, if what I have been told up til then has been fact, if serving a mission was something that I actually wanted to do. So, being the amazing person and leader he was, my bishop helped guide me to make my own decision. He had me read from Alma, a book in the Book of Mormon, from the 32nd chapter. This chapter talks a lot about faith, acting on that faith, and receiving an answer, or, as the prophet Alma puts it "43 Then, my brethren, ye shall reap the rewards of your faith, and your diligence, and patience, and long-suffering, waiting for the tree to bring forth fruit unto you." I'm not going to lie and I cannot lie, that that moment changed my life. In that moment, I felt the eternal truths of eternal happiness enter my entire soul. And I know for a fact that that can happen to you as well. Read, ponder, pray. It's all there. Just gotta take the first step, and leap forward. I now know that God is real. He is our Heavenly Father. We are his offspring (Acts 17:27+28). Jesus is His son and our Redeemer and our Mediator. The Holy Spirit is the Comforter and Testifier of all truths.

How I live my faith

-Being an example. -Sharing the good news. -Trying to do as Christ would have me do.

Why are Mormons asked to donate 10% of their income to their Church?

Andy
Well, first of all because it is a commandment of God. Second of all, because of FAITH. Faith is an eternal concept and principal that is needed to be learned here during this life. Without it, we cannot progress. God is allowing us to use our faith to show our loyalty. Thirdly, who doesn't want to help Our Heavenly Father build His kindgom on Earth? I do! Show more Show less
