Hi I'm Colby

I'm an IT student, fisher, BMXer, and a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a college student studying information technology. I've worked in the library on campus as a student programmer since April 2010 and rather enjoy my work. I also enjoy fishing, hiking, cars, and bmx.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the Church, but made the decision in my teen years to continue following the faith of my parents. I did this because it has always felt right to me. Through much reading and praying I have found &mdash time and again &mdash that this church is true. The members, though as human as me, have always helped my faith to grow: I have learned through their struggles, hardships, and growths, and hope I have been able to likewise strengthen others. I know that Joseph Smith was the Lord's prophet and that the authority he received has been passed down to Thomas S. Monson. I know that the Book of Mormon is the word of God. I love that book. I am eternally grateful for the Bible and the power that it has had in my life. I challenge everyone who reads this to do as I have done: read the Book of Mormon and pray about its truthfulness. It will bless your life immeasurably.

How I live my faith

Within church I work with men my own age. The main focus of my calling is to organize the home teaching system. Home teaching is a wonderful blessing in the church: every member has people assigned to look out for them. When I am having problems in my life I know exactly who to call. Outside of church I live my faith by reading the scriptures and praying daily. I find that as I delve into the word of the Lord that He opens my mind and directs me in my life. Outside of studying, I serve. One of my favorite things is to have others over for dinner. Providing for others what they cannot provide for themselves brings more joy into my life that anything else.
