Hi I'm Dan

I was born and raised in Arkansas on a small chicken farm and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My wife is my best friend and eternal companion. Together we have six wonderful children. Professionally I refer to myself as a computer geek - I currently work as IT Director for a manufacturing company. Photography is my creative outlet and creates opportunities to closely interact with families, individuals and even different cultures. I'm a lead climbing and rappelling instructor for the Boy Scouts of America.

Why I am a Mormon

I was attracted to the church because it answered every question I had and I felt the truth of the answers. I remain a member because I have gained a testimony of it's truthfulness. I know this is the restored church of Jesus Christ and that He stands at the head and directs the affairs of the church through his chosen Apostles and Prophets. I know that when I follow the teachings of the church that I'm following the teachings of our Savior. I and my family have received great blessings in both our daily lives and our eternal futures because of the things we learn and observe here. I guess that I'm a Mormon because I like being happy. When I'm busy making right choices and serving others I have that happiness. There is plenty of opportunity to learn, and serve and grow here in Christ's Church.

How I live my faith

Currently I serve as a counselor to the Bishop. In the past I have served as the 11 year old scout leader, Scout Master, and Young Men's President.. My favorite responsibility is serving the youth. We've had some pretty bad ice storms in recent years. Me and my son's have grabbed gloves and chainsaws and headed out into the cold to saw up trees and limbs so our neighbors were able to drive down their streets. I've done work for Champions for Kids, Habitat for Humanity, emergency preparedness fairs and others. It is a special thing at the end of the day to know you've helped out your fellow man for no other reason than the helping itself. You get a wonderful feeling when serving others that can't be had in any other way.

Why don’t Mormons drink coffee, tea, or alcohol? What is the Mormon Church’s law of health and proper diet?

Dan
We follow the Word of Wisdom which is revelation given for our health. We believe that we should take good care of our psychical bodies as they are a gift from God. Any harmful substance should be carefully avoided. Great blessings, both spiritual and physical come from taking care of our bodies. A certain man had two sons and gave to each a beautiful new bicycle. The first abused and ruined the bike quickly, the second was thankful and careful and kept his bike beautiful and in perfect working order. When the man returned and saw what was done he was sorrowful for the first but entrusted all he had to the second. Show more Show less
