Hi I'm Zac

I moved around a little bit growing up. I love technology. I'm a news junkie. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a college student at Brigham Young University. I'm studying Information Systems. I chose that field because I love technology and I love helping people use technology. Information systems combines my two interests of technology and people. I enjoy good movies. I also really like to read the news, every day. I enjoy watching the world's story evolve around me. There are many great and exciting things that happen every day. I think it's exciting to be a part of that story, and to make a difference for others. I like music. Especially oldies. I also enjoy biking and hiking.

Why I am a Mormon

The Gospel brings so much joy into my life. I know that Jesus Christ lives. I have a wonderful family that can be together forever because of Christ's atonement. I can read scriptures as the true word of God, and hear inspiration from modern prophets to lead and guide me through life's challenges. Sometimes it's hard to imagine what my life would be like without the Gospel of Jesus Christ. It certainly would be more difficult. To be honest, I'm already a bit of a worrier, but the gospel brings so much peace to my life. Peace exists in knowing that I can return to live with God one day. That amid my daily setbacks and mistakes, I'm striving for something greater as I keep God's commandments. Not only does the gospel bring peace into my life, it brings joy to my life every day. I've mentioned that I love to read the news and watch the world's story unfold. Additinally, I enjoy a good bike ride or a afternoon watching a Seinfeld episode. All of these hobbies are important to me as I strive to find happiness in my life. I am happy. I wouldn't have that knowledge without the Gospel. I'm a Mormon because it brings true joy to me and my family. Hard things happen, but an eternal perspective towards God and our return to Him, makes those hard things not so hard.

How I live my faith

I'm currently a member of a single adult ward. That means I go to church with other college students and people my age. It's a great place to meet new friends, but to also learn more about God and his will for me today. Life in college can be overwhelming. Often, I feel like I'm not doing all that I need to be doing or getting the best grades, but each week, I go to church and I reflect on more important things. It's awesome to have that opportunity around people my age. I assist in scheduling appointments with the Bishop, the local clergy leader. Students and ward members might want to meet with him to resolve concerns, or just to talk, and I help schedule those meetings. I also participate in "Family Home Evening" each week. Since we're not living at home with our immediate family, we organize into "home evening" groups and we get together once a week. We often play games, make food, and share spiritual thoughts. It's always a good time. Finally, I live my faith by trying to reach out to others. I live my faith my trying to be more like Jesus Christ. He taught the ultimate example. I'm grateful that example and for the opportunity to serve others.
