Hi I'm Geniel

I'm a lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

About Me

I've been married to my dearest friend for over 30 years. We have five wonderful children and eleven amazing grandchildren. I love learning new things. I recently completed a master's degree in Family Studies. I teach part-time at a local university. I love to hike, read, sew, quilt, garden, and play skee ball. But, my real passion and joy in life is my family.

Why I am a Mormon

I feel especially blessed to have had parents who loved the Lord Jesus Christ, and were committed members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I remember the warmth and comfort of being taught stories of Jesus' life as very small child. The Gospel was the center of our life. As I grew, I remember hearing many stories from people who learned about the Church later in life and had profound experiences realizing that they knew the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints was God's true church. I worried that I hadn't had dramatic experiences like some other people had had and wondered if I really knew this church had the truth of the Lord's Gospel. One Sunday when I was a young teenager, my family had gathered together to celebrate the birth of a new baby in the family. We all went to our worship service--sacrament meeting, together. During the meeting, members of the congregation were given the opportunity to share their feelings about their faith in Jesus Christ, and their belief about the Gospel and the Church. I remember feeling that I very much wanted to take this opportunity to tell my family how much I loved them, but although I loved my experiences in the church and felt good about what I had been taught, I still wasn't sure I had the conviction that I had heard others express and so I hesitated to say anything. I sat and listened for a while until I had such a strong urge to stand up, I just couldn't sit there any longer. As I began to express gratitude to my family and look around at people in the congregation that had taught me Gospel principles, I was nearly overwhelmed with a powerful sense of the truth of everything I had been taught and experienced. I was flooded with the warmth and assurance that I really had known all along that this is indeed the Lord's true church. Throughout my life I have had countless experiences that have reaffirmed those early stirrings of testimony and conviction.

How I live my faith

Some of my most fulfilling life experiences have come through serving and giving of myself to people around me. Many of those experiences have been while teaching young women about the Savior Jesus Christ, or helping them learn a new skill at youth camp. Through the laughter, and sometimes, tears, it's very rewarding to see them gain more confidence in themselves, and I grow right along side of them. I have been so very blessed throughout my life, I'm happy for the many opportunities that are available to offer service in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
