Hi I'm Alice

Hi, I'm Alice, and I grew up in the great Northwest. I became a Mormon when I was 12 years old.

About Me

I have taught piano for 37 years and love teaching. I also play the organ, guitar, and harp. My hobbies are music of course, sewing, making greeting cards, and tap dancing. My husband & I have 4 children & 11 grandchildren who have brought much joy into my life. Life is interesting with so many activities to fill my time. Music plays a big part of my life and serving as ward organist is my favorite calling. Much thought and prayer are given to the songs that are chosen for prelude and sacrament meeting to help bring the spirit into the meetings.

Why I am a Mormon

I joined the church when I was 12 years old. I had attended a non-denominational church and my mom started taking us to the Mormon Church. My sister & I were baptized on the same day in 1959. I gained a testimony of the church when I attended BYU. I remember the scripture that my brother underlined in Moroni Ch.10 v.4 of the Book of Mormon which says, "And when ye shall receive these things, I would exhort you that ye would ask God, the Eternal Father, in the name of Christ, if these things are not true; and if ye shall ask with a sincere heart, with real intent, having faith in Christ, he will manifest the truth of it unto you, by the power of the Holy Ghost." I was in the parking lot of BYU when I heard a choir of angels as I looked toward the mountains. I had been praying that I would have a spiritual experience of the truth of the Book of Mormon. It was at that time that I knew the church was true and that the Book of Mormon was a testimony of Christ. I know we have a prophet of God who receives revelation for the church. I am so thankful to have the church in my life and in raising a family.

How I live my faith

I try to be an example to others. As I have faced hard challenges in my life, it makes me more empathetic with others. Being non-judgemental is very hard for me, and I am trying to be better in that area. My faith helps me remember the Savior's example and to be like Him. By attending my meetings, praying, & reading the scriptures daily and taking the sacrament each Sunday helps me stay on the right path. Life still throws obstacles in our way at times, but the Gospel of Jesus Christ keeps me grounded. I know my Savior loves me and will not forsake me. Because music is such a huge part of my life, I think of hymns when I am having a difficult time. The words to the hymns are so beautiful. As I listen to the music of the hymns, I hear other parts to the music in my head. I have arranged music to play at services.
