Hi I'm Joseph

I'm a Mormon, and I like it.

About Me

I'm a rather simple fellow. I enjoy the occasional video game, work when I have to, and sleep when I can. I currently work as a Blackhawk Mechanic for the National Guard. I've been deployed to Iraq and made it back in one piece. My long term goal is to go to college and become a psychiatrist.

Why I am a Mormon

When I first saw this question, my initial response was "because my parents are"... but that's not really true. When I first moved out on my own, I didn't really go to church all that often, or at all. I vaguely believed in the gospel, but lacked any real conviction. I was newly married, and was really just focused on making a living with no college education or work experience to build off of. All I knew was that I didn't want to scrape by all my life, barely making a living and barely supporting my new family. That's when I decided to join the National Guard. I soon was off to basic training, and that's when my life really changed. While going through processing we were asked what religious affiliation to stamp onto our dog tags. Even though I hadn't been to church in well over a year, I automatically said LDS. From there I got information on worship services available during basic training. I first went just to get away from the drill sergeants, but the moment I walked through the doors of the chapel, I felt a change. I felt a beautiful peace, and a quiet joy that was almost palpable. I wanted more of that feeling after church was over, so I got a Book of Mormon, and started to read it every chance I got through out the week. Even in the loudest, most stressful environments, if was able to read a few verses out of the Book of Mormon I was able to feel that same peace and joy I felt on Sundays. My testimony grew and solidified. I suppose the shorter answer to this question is, I am a Mormon because the Gospel of Jesus Christ is true, and it can be found in the Book of Mormon. Joseph Smith is a true prophet of God, and we are led by a true prophet, Thomas S. Monson even today. I am a Mormon because I love our Savior, and I know that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is his church on the Earth today.

How I live my faith

Very carefully.
