Hi I'm Cynthia

I'm a Latter-day Saint.

About Me

Growing up I studied dance which included ballet, tap, modern-dance, and jazz. Now, I just love to dance anytime I have a chance. My husband and children give me such joy, although they also keep me very busy-even though they are grown! I love to do genealogy because it provides insight into my family ancestry that I didn't know growing up. I'm an avid reader of anything in front of me.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in another faith and knew of God's love for me and all His children. However, I felt there was so much more for me to learn that I wasn't being taught, so I started going to different churches, seeking more insight and knowledge. Each church provided me with more perspective, but after a while, I felt the messages were the same and I wasn't growing spiritually or gaining more knowledge about the gospel. Even in college I took some world religion classes, hoping to discover more - still nothing added more, although I found the information fascinating. I discovered the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints through a series of events and my continued efforts. When I attended the church for the first time, I was amazed at the different talks I heard in church, given by different people, and how relevant they were to life and the biblical foundations upon which they were built. I walked away from the meetings for the next three weeks feeling refreshed and awakened to the love and light of Christ coming into my life. I asked if there was anyone who could tell me about the doctrine of the church and it was then they sent the missionaries. The missionaries were able to answer questions no other entity had been able to answer for me and did so with humbleness and with prayer interwoven throughout the lessons. What they taught I inherently knew was true immediately. I have grown in my knowledge of the Savior and Bible in ways I cannot perceive had I not joined the church. I love being a Latter-day Saint and believe I am a better person for what I have and continue to learn about aligning my life with Jesus Christ's.

How I live my faith

There have been many ways I have been encouraged to serve others. I have helped make and teach children how to make bandages for lepers; I have helped people learn and research their ancestry for their genealogy. In my house, I have had groups over to study the gospel and discuss different aspects of how we can serve others throughout the world. At different times, I have worked as a volunteer helping women and children who have been abused. I also was part of the Big Brother/Big Sister organization for several years. I really enjoy serving others and believe the time I give has blessed my life with an appreciation of all the Lord has given me. I have a thankful heart for having the gospel in my life. It has given me insight about life and how to view life's trials and tribulations so they are endurable and become a learning experience for my personal growth.
