Hi I'm Janette

I grew up in California. I LOVE to draw. Sometimes I start with a doodle drawn in Sacrament Mtg. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I studied art at BYU before getting married. Then i had three kids. I went back to school to finish my degree and got as Far as an AA in art before i started working at a college in the theatre department. i worked as a costume designer/builder. Then i had another baby and switched over to Scenic Artistry (it involved less hours) and i found my artistic niche. I loved it. I've been married for 39 years. Now I'm a grandmother and like a lot of grandmothers, I take care of my grand kids while their parents work. I still draw cute pictures but they aren't 20 feet tall anymore.

Why I am a Mormon

Although I have a lot of Mormon ancestry, my parents didn't raise my sister and me in any religion. When we were 17 the sister missionaries came to our door and we began the discussions. Where was I before I was born? Where will I go after I die? These were BIG questions for me and the answers the missionaries gave made such sense to me -as though I had always known it. It gave such comfort and purpose to know why I was here and where I was going. I also liked, that it is a "happy" religion. When trying other churches, I never could get with the fire, and brimstone, God is an angry god, this life is a trial that you will fail at attitude. In my heart I knew God loved me and I couldn't understand why he wouldn't want me to have a happy life. I know that people have questions about life. This church has answers. And they aren't answers that are just made up, they are answers received by our loving Heavenly Father through a true prophet.

How I live my faith

My son is on his mission right now so I go to church quite often a lone. Sometimes I can talk my husband into going with. I love teaching in the church (I even sneak in the occasional art lesson) but I also like sitting and listening to our Sunday School teacher. He's awesome. I'm kind of a homebody. I am mostly involved with my family. All of my children live close and so we do a lot of stuff together. I think it's the biggest way I live my faith. Where many families move apart and live completely separate lives mine is tight and loving. My children aren't just siblings they are best friends. We love to have the missionaries over now that our home is an "empty nest" and tell them about our lives and all the silly things we've done. We love the messages they bring us.
