Hi I'm Emily

I have lived in North Carolina, Utah, Ohio, and Florida. I teach ESL. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am an ESL teacher. I enjoy working with English learners from all over the word to help them reach their goals. I also enjoy playing tennis with my husband, eating Thai food, and reading with my two children.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints because it gives me a knowledge of who I am, what my potential is, and helps me achieve that potential through Jesus Christ and the ordinances of His restored church. I know that Christ guides His church through His prophet and apostles and their consistent and loving guidance and examples strengthen my faith in Christ and provide direction for my family on a daily basis. I also treasure the joy, peace, and learning that come through serving others.

How I live my faith

Most mornings I wake up and talk with Heavenly Father. Then my husband and I say a prayer together to start the day. Before we eat breakfast with our family we also say a prayer and then read the scriptures for 5-10 minutes. All of these activities invite God's Holy Spirit to help me, my husband and our children to help us make better priorities and choices during the day. Two to three times a week I spend an hour with teenage girls ages 12-18. I help plan our weekly activities, teach them lessons about Christian values and principles, and participate in weekly activities. We offer community service, help the girls develop their interests and talents, exercise, attend cultural and sporting events, and regularly work on helping the girls achieve their personal goals. It is a fun and satisfying way to help youth in the church build their faith and self-worth.
