Hi I'm Kent

I love: Languages, Star Wars, Sport Bikes, Del Taco, Graphic Novels, Monster Energy Jesus, and being a Mormon!

About Me

I was born and raised in Colorado. Mostly in and around Denver, as well in the Rockies them selves. I have a strong heritage of Scottish, Irish, and Italian bloodlines. I enjoy reading just as much as watching TV. I got my self into fit condition after having the determination to become like Lance Armstrong, and to go fast. I have a Specialized single speed, that I so named Axl(after Guns and Roses). My fastest speed is 45mph! I can't wait to buy even a fatser bike, the Suzuki Hyabusa; all 1300cc's of it, "You goin' to buy a bike, buy a BIKE!"-Drew. How can I afford it? Simply live off rice and soysauce. Proven money management system. During which I was highly invloved in Debate in Lehi High School in Utah. I'm a player of the Game GO(little rusty). I love martial arts(Brazilian Ju-jitsu, etc.). Role playing(like Dungeons and Dragons(but not with costumes that is werid). I love Star Wars(go Empire!) and the new Battle Star Gallactica(team Cylon). I worked at Del Taco(TACO TUESDAY!) for a year and a half. Music is something I enjoy(classic rock, dance remixes, grunge, indie, metal, techno, etc). I plan on going to school to speak Arabic, and what ever else. Languages absorb me and I love them. So far I can butcher German(Deustch(nicht zehr gutt), Spanish(Espanol(mi habla en espanol es pocito bueno), not to forget english. I'm excited to join our countries military, and help protect our freedoms we often take for granted. I suppose that is a little about Me.

Why I am a Mormon

Well the reason I joined the church is a simple one I knew it to be true. When I was thirteen I was looking for the meaning in life. Studying religions and philosophies looking for the point to life. Something to give meaning to my existence. Every thing from Taoism, Bhuddism, Islam, ext... I wasn't quite able to find anything from any idea or religion, to fill the void I felt. After my search I decided that i would take the things I liked from those philosphies and live with what ever came my way. It was at that time that Mormon Missionaries entered our home and began teaching my mom. She asked I listen to what they had to teach and I did. I enjoyed them they truly felt like they lived as Christ would, true Christians. Living what they taught. When they asked that we would be baptized and join His restored church my mom wanted to, and I declined( to the astonishment of others). But something kept pressing on my mind and I decided to read The Book of Mormon and pray to know if it is true and wether God really exisited. I immediatley got an answer and was baptized. And continue to feel the same spirit. With one simple prayer and a very simple answer from Heavenly Father I knew my point of existence and what I needed to do in life. And continue to try and live towards that purpose. As well helping others do the same. That is why I a mormon.

How I live my faith

There is a martial arts saying that refers to the forms(practiced moves) you do, it is a long the lines of this; You practice your form 100x, people will begin to realize you have an oppenent. You do your form 1,000x, people will see your opponent. If you do your form a 1,000,000,000x they'll see your victory. I feel that that is the same as being a Christian. How I live my faith should be reflected in the way I act, my values, presence, purpose. They should show honor to the one I live my life after. In martial arts ones master, grand master or other, should be ones exempler. They should see your master through you. They shouldn't have to ask who you're, taught, under they should know by the very way we live our lives. I want people to know that i'm a Christian, a disciple of the Lord Jesus Christ. I hope that when people see me they will actually see Jesus Christ. I want to be able to really follow him. As Christ said “If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me.”( Luke 9:23.)“And whosoever doth not bear his cross, and come after me, cannot be my disciple.” ( Luke 14:27.) As one of our primary songs sung by the children, bears this point well. "I’m trying to be like Jesus; I’m following in his ways. I’m trying to love as he did, in all that I do and say."(“I’m Trying to Be like Jesus,” Children’s Songbook, 78–79.)

Is it true that Jesus appeared in North America after his crucifixion and resurrection according to the Book of Mormon?

Kent
It is true that he apeared the the ancient inhabitants here in the americas and it is found within the Book of Mormon detailing His appearance to the people. Because he said "And other sheep I have, which are not of this fold them also I must bring, and they shall hear my voice and there shall be one" John 1016. He loves everyone and is no respector of persons and wish for all to learn of him. "Father, glorify thy name. Then came there a voice from heaven, saying I have glorified it, and will glorify it again." St John 1228. He will continue to show unto us the children of men his love towards us and his marvelous power. "For the Son of man is not come to destroy mens lives, but to save them. And they went to another villiage." St Luke 956. He loves us all and all shall hear him. In the pages of the Book of Mormon, Jesus Christ appearance is the climax of the Book of Mormon and personally some of my favorite readings. He teaches his disciples of the ancient america how to be disciples, he blessed their children one by one, and then proceeded to establish his church among that people and called another Twelve disciples to help run and organize his church there. It comprizes 3 Nephi 11-27. Through it and the Book of Mormon, learning the Christ also visited other people is a testimony the He is the Saviour of the world. Show more Show less

Are Mormons Christians?

Kent
Being in the Southern states, I've had this question asked of me and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. "Are we(you) christian?" My response is and always is "Most definitely yes!" We believe in the Lord Jesus Christ. The Savior of mankind, or hope of salvation from sin. Christ is the the Greek word for the anointed one. The Hebrew equivalent is Messiah. Christ is the title given and applied to Jesus of Nazareth. Paul in the New Testament places Christ in front of Jesus, Christ Jesus. We believe that Jesus is the Christ so prophesied of in the Old Testament, to come and redeem mankind from our fallen state. In our book of scripture called the Book of Mormon. The people of the time who believed in Jesus were called Christians, "And those who did belong to the church were faithful; yea, all those who were true believers in Christ took upon them, gladly, the name of Christ, or Christians as they were called, because of their belief in Christ who should come." (Alma 46:15) We, as they did, gladly take upon our selves the title of Christians. Show more Show less
