Hi I'm Brian

I'm an actor, a husband and a father. I've been a Mormon for 10 years. Was raised my whole life as a Methodist.

About Me

I'm an actor. Been acting in TV/Film/Commercials/Theater for over 15 years. I'm also an electrical engineer at a major toy company for my day job. Been married for 8+ years and we have a baby boy and a baby girl.

Why I am a Mormon

I met my wife doing a stage production of Shakespeare's "Twelfth Night". I was a practicing Methodist my whole life and she was Mormon. I did not want to convert for her. I wanted my conversion to be for me. So I studied on my own for many, many months before finally agreeing to meet with missionaries. I was finally baptized and a year after that, we were married in the temple.

How I live my faith

I go to church every week and our family has been blessed for it. I plan activities for the men my age. Beach volleyball, tailgate partys, dodge ball, ice cream socials. That kinda thing. And I also help to council the men and teach them to live their lives according to the Savior's teachings.

What do Mormons believe about "eternal life?"

Brian
We are all given the gift of eternal life. We lived in Heaven with God before being born on Earth and our spirits will continue to live on forever after our bodies fail us and we pass away for this mortal life. When Jesus returns to the Earth for His Second Coming, our bodies will be reunited with our spirits and we will be resurrected forever and ever. Show more Show less

Brian

Is it true that Jesus appeared in North America after his crucifixion and resurrection according to the Book of Mormon?

Brian
This was my biggest stumbling block. When I was first investigating the Church, I was confused about ancient America versus Joseph Smith's time. It made no sense to me that if Jesus visited the people in Joseph Smith's time, and showed them His scars and taught the people etc, then why doesn't everybody know about it? Because, He visited during ancient times. Right after his crucifiction and resurrection. Not during Joseph Smith's time. When I learned that, I was like "Ohhhhhh, now that makes sense". My best advice, is to find someone who is a member of the church and ask them all your questions. Most likely, you're doing too much internet research and confusing yourself :) I now have a strong testimony that Jesus did indeed visit ancient America. Show more Show less

Who chooses the Mormon prophet?

Brian
Once the prophet dies, the new prophet is the apostle who has been a member of the twelve the longest. The entire congregation, worldwide, is asked to sustain the prophet twice a year at a general conference. To become an apostle, the prophet and the twelve fast and pray together to receive revelation from Heavenly Father. If they all agree to have received the same revelation and are certain it is God's will, that man is then extended the call to become an apostle. So, God chooses His prophets. Show more Show less

How are modesty and chastity related? How can parents teach their children to be modest in dress, language and behavior?

Brian
Men's eyes can wander. Better to not wear clothing that tempts, I guess. We'd teach our children to dress modestly. Not only for their good, but because of the outside world. There are sexual predators out there and I would not want my kids to attract them by clothing that is too revealing etc. Show more Show less
