Hi I'm April

I grew up in a large Mormon family in California. I've always tried to listen to my heart and do the right things.

About Me

When I was younger, I loved ballroom dancing, playing the piano and having fun. I received my B.S. in Organizational Psychology and pulled out of my Masters program to support my husband in his career and raise our 5 children. That has been a rewarding full time job. I loved decorate cakes, sewing, play the piano and going bodyboarding, but a car accident messed up my neck and back, wrists and hand so I have refocused my life. With my family's support, I have recently completed my Masters in Marital and Family Therapy, commiserating with two of my children in college. I plan on completing my PhD when our youngest enters high school and head into a career of my own.

Why I am a Mormon

I could say I'm a Mormon because my parents were. But that is not why, I have siblings that are not. I am a Mormon because I have read the Book of Mormon, prayed about it and received an undeniable confirmation of the spirit that it is the word of God. I have read Joseph Smith's story, listened to modern day prophets and gotten the same powerful confirmation that they are prophets. What they say brings me closer to my Savior and helps me apply the atonement to my life and makes me a better person. I am a happy person because of the fullness of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. That is why I am a member of Christ's church.

How I live my faith

I read scriptures and pray regularly. I attend church and keep the sabbath day holy. I try to apply Christ's teaching by striving to be patient and kind which can be so difficult at times. I try to be a good neighbor, carpool buddy, mom, wife, therapist, sister and friend. I teach the 12-13 year old every Sunday to help them strengthen their commitment to follow the Savior too. I try to be kind to telemarketers, and I try not to yell at 'lame' drivers on the road, or my kids or the neighbors dog. Teaching my teens, others teens and helping others overcome their challenges are my most heartfelt ways of living the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I try to remember to repent...often. These are ways I am currently striving to live my faith.
