Hi I'm Blake

I'm a people person, movie buff and a debater. I love learning new things, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

To start off, I love life!!! Nothing gives me more joy and/or satisfaction then spending time with those people that I love the most. For those who know me, they know that every person I meet I want them to be my "new best friend." There is something in spending time with other people that makes me capable of getting through the trials of this life. I love movies, hanging out with my friends, relaxing, and having fun!!! I loving serving others. Through different opportunities in school, community, and church positions I have learned that there is no greater joy than seeing somebody smile because of something you did. We all have tough times in life... I remember times that I wished I could find someone to cheer me up so that I could focus on good things. We all need someone to lean on.... so I've decided to be that person! I love learning! I dislike not knowing about something. Knowledge has become my passion. I am a college student who, like most people, is having a tough time deciding what I want to be when I grow up. I have switched from a political science major to a criminal justice major with hopes of going to law school, to now wanting to be an education major with hopes of being a college professor. I love teaching! I have had the opportunity to dedicate my life to teaching other people, whether it be for the church as a full-time missionary, as an assistant debate coach for the high school I attended, or just sitting down and teaching life lessons to my friends and family. There is power behind passion, and when people see that I love to learn, it makes them interested as well. We can never learn too much!

Why I am a Mormon

Like I have said earlier, I love learning. I have studied history in many different ways including the formation of different churches. For me to do anything in life it just has to "make sense." After studying many different books, the scriptures, history as a whole and listening to different religious scholars I started leaning that this church was true. However, I do have to say, that even though I was born into this church, there came a point when I had to find out myself for it to be true. I grew up going to church and my family taught me well, but I needed to know for myself. My personal investigation brought me to the point where I came across several promises made by chosen servants of God in the scriptures. In the Holy Bible, James teaches us that "If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God...and it shall be given him." Also in the Book of Mormon, the prophet Moroni promises: "Behold I would exhort you that ye would ask God, the Eternal Father, if these things are not true; and if ye ask with a sincere heart with real intent, he will manifest the truth of it unto you by the power of the Holy Ghost. "Andy by the power of the Holy Ghost, ye may know the truth of all things." That brought me to the conclusion, that who to better ask and investigate than the giver of all truth. I sought God. I sought the truth. I am a living witness that he answered my prayer and I know without a shaddow of a doubt that this is the one and only true church here on the Earth again today. God is not the author of confusion. He can lead us to the truth and to the light, if we just ask him. Don't tak e my word for it..... try it yourself!

How I live my faith

I realized that for us to be successful in something, we have to be truly dedicated to it. My goal is to return back to my Father in Heaven and Jesus Christ and to live with my family together forever! Who wouldn't want that? Because of those goals that I have, I have to live my life in a way that I can stay on that path. I want to dedicate my life fully to the Lord, and in return he will make everything else fall into place. When we get involved and serve in the church, we have a promise that the Lord will watch over us. Who wouldn't want that? As I have dedicated 2 years of my life to be a missionary and to serve the Lord 24/7, I have seen his hand in my life and that there are blessings waiting for all of us for when we serve him.

To what do you attribute the growth of the Church?

Blake
We live in a day and age where people are honestly searching for the truth. As members of the church, it is our responsibility to spread the good news of the gospel and its truths with everyone. The gospel makes sense, as people are beginning to realize it, they realize that God has established a true church on the earth and that he is not as far away as people make him to be. He loves us and wants us to find the truth. He will gladly reveal that to all who ask. That is why the church is growing. They are asking and gaining the answers for themself that this is the church of Jesus Christ! Show more Show less
