Hi I'm Jim

I've always known that God loved me...I love to sing, laugh, joke, and to have fun...and I am a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in a Roman Catholic family of 8 boys and 3 girls. I am the only person in my family to be a Mormon, but I wouldn't change it for the world! I believe that the foundation I had as a Catholic helped me to become the person I am now. I had taken some college courses and realized I was not studying things of worth to me...so I redirected myself and served in the US Army. In fact, I joined the LDS church while stationed in Germany! I decided that what I learned would benefit others. I went to Argentina on a mission and sought to help others also find joy in Christ. Although I am flawed and imperfect, I know that God lives, and that his Son is the Redeemer of ALL mankind. What joy to be able to share that message with others, and in their language no less! I started a family, but ended up divorced. However, after almost 10 years of being a single dad, I have now remarried (10 years this month) and we have a 'blended' family with four great children and now four beautiful grandchildren. Life is sweet and precious and OH SO GOOD! Now I am living my childhood dream of being a man of God and a loving father to my family.

Why I am a Mormon

Quite simply it is because I had questions and wanted answers. It was not enough just to hear about "the innate mysteries of God and our limited understanding"! I understood the teachings...they just were NOT ENOUGH to answer the questions.i.e. How could a LOVING GOD condemn babies that were not baptized to hell? Why a celibate priesthood? Was it true there was a female Pope? How could the the Inquisition be defended? How could God the Father, also be His own Son in the Flesh? Why would HE PRAY to HIMSELF in the Lords prayer, or always say He was doing his FATHERS will not his own?? Where no one else had answers, I found answers to these questions and more as I INVESTIGATED and prayed about The Book of Mormon and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. This is something you can do for yourself. Do not take my word for it. Do your homework...talk to Mormons...read The Book of Mormon...attend a sacrament meeting at your closest Mormon Church...ASK questions here, or have the Full-time Missionaries over for a talk. There are many ways for you to find answers for yourself...May I suggest you do some studying for yourself and then ASK GOD if it is true? I know that this is the BEST way to find answers to questions, and to find peace of mind and soul. It is through prayer and the sweet feelings of peace brought by the Holy Ghost in answer to sincere petitions that you will find your answers. I know that we have a loving Heavenly Father & He lives. Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and Redeemer of all mankind. You can know these thing by the power of the Holy Ghost. It is easy to know for yourself. Read, watch the videos on this site,Study it out in your mind, and pray. Seriously...pray. It works! It did for me and others that I know.

How I live my faith

Well, I know that I am an imperfect man with a growing knowledge of my loving Father in Heaven. I make mistakes, and fall short of living as well as I should. Each day I strive to be better, I apologize to those I have wronged, and I give thanks to a merciful and loving Father. So, How do I live my Faith? 1st) As a family we read scriptures every morning, and then kneel in family prayer. Some people think it is corny...however I KNOW my day and my family's day is better when we do this. We have grown closer and have experienced stronger family ties due to this. 2nd) I do this personally also...personal study and prayer helps me to focus on the needs of my family and to seek the inspiration I need to help them. 3rd) I strive to fulfill my church duties. It is time consuming and sometimes finding a balance between work, home and church is challenging, but, Oh it is SO fulfilling! I love meeting with the members of the ward, listening to them, crying with them, helping them to find solutions to the challenges they face. Sometimes it is helping them move in or out of homes, or it could be holding the hands of the loved ones as they pass through the veil of death, or giving them priesthood blessings to help them with sickness or sorrow, or Listening as they ponder life's many and varied challenges...loving them as Jesus commanded. I also get to work with the youth here...and with the Scouting program. There is so much opportunity to do good and to help change and shape lives of all ages, I wish there were more time in a day. How do I live my faith? One day at a time, one moment at a time, one person at a time.

How can I know Mormonism is true?

Jim
Truly...if you want to find truth, you must go to the font of ALL truth. God the Father. The only way I know to do that is through the medium of prayer. Sincere prayer. Prayer with 'real intent'. Now what does that mean? It means that when God answers (and He will answer), You INTEND to DO what He asks. So, you ask your Heavenly Father if what you have read, heard, studied etc. is true...asking with a true desire, and in the name of the Savior Jesus Christ. Then you listen with your heart for the confirmation of the Spirit. You may experience sweet peace, or a clarity of thought or a burning in your breast...but the Holy Ghost WILL testify of the truth. It may not be right away...it may come in the stillness of the night, or in listening to someone else speak, or even in a daily meditation about something else entirely. I found that sometimes I have to walk in faith and have found confirmation in defending truth...and then KNEW it of a surety. For myself, it was not until I was taunted by friends about listening to "that Old John Smith and the Mormons", and defended Joseph Smith that I knew he was a true prophet of God. I was not expecting it, but at that moment I knew with every fiber of my being it was true. I had real intent and it changed my life for the better.
