Hi I'm Harry

I'm 58, been married for 38 years, have 7 married children, 13 grandkids, I am a painting contractor, USN vet, and I'm a Mormon

About Me

I live in the community of Centralia Washington. My wife, baby boy and I moved here in 1977 after being discharged from active duty in the US Navy. I was a photographers mate in the military and went to work for the Daily Chronicle of Centralia. Within about 2 years I realized that was not a very family friendly career and changed my direction to becoming a self employed painting contractor where I could be home every night and still make a living for my family. We were also expecting our 3rd child at that time and changed our entire life focus. We asked a Mormon professor we were acquainted with, just exactly what a Mormon is and eventually invited the missionaries into our home. We joined the Church within about 5 months and have been living the life ever since. We found a good foundation from which to build our lives in the gospel of Jesus Christ. It has become part of our lives and a rich blessing to our family. Today all of our children are married, we have 12 beautiful grandchildren being raised in the gospel and life is sweet. I am still a painting contractor, one of my sons works with me every day and we spend most of our vacation time and money visiting our kids!

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I believe that is what Heavenly Father wants me to be. I believe that He lead me to the Church through the Holy Ghost. I believe that His Son, Jesus Christ came to earth to lead us back to our Father. Through and only through the atonement of Jesus Christ, we can return to Him someday. Through living the gospel, being obedient to His commandments and receiving the ordinances of the gospel, we are promised that we may again not only live in heaven after we die, but we may also live together in heaven with the family we knew here on earth. That is why I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I am not perfect. In fact, if I worked harder on it, it would take me forever to even approach perfection. I try every day to remember how Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ have asked me to live my life. I try to be honest in my dealings with people, I try to read out of the scriptures every day and pray to Heavenly Father. I believe that Heavenly Father will lead me through the day through the Holy Spirit's ability to inspire me.That is how I try to live my faith.
