Hi I'm Howie

I am very happy that I'm a Mormon. I am grateful for a challenging, rich and full life with loving friends and family.

About Me

I am a father of five wonderful children. My first wife passed away from cancer, and I have remarried. Both my parents are deceased, but I have four siblings and a stepmother whom I love as part of my family. I served a Mormon mission for the church in Lima, Peru. This was a wonderful opportunity to serve and grow that I hope my children will have some day. I am gratefully self-employed and I love the opportunities I have to serve and provide for my family through my profession.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon for a lot of reasons: I have a testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ as contained in the Mormon church. I have learned through study, prayer and personal revelation that the Gospel of Jesus Christ is true. I love how the church teaches that I am a child of a loving Heavenly Father, and that Jesus Christ died so that I can one day return to live with my eternal family. I also have a testimony that the church is led by a latter day prophet of God, just as there were prophets in ancient times, such as Adam, Noah, etc. Therefore the Heavens are not sealed. God is aware of us all, and he has provided scriptures, including the Bible, Book of Mormon and others, for us to read and learn of Him. I am also a Mormon because the church is inclusive of all people. All, regardless of race, color or creed, are invited equally to come unto our Heavenly Father through Jesus Christ. I have yet to hear anything in the church that is discriminatory or unkind toward any other person or belief. While Mormons are taught to avoid sin, we know we all fall short in some ways. So, we are taught to strive to be obedient to God's commandments, to repent when we fall short, and to love, serve and forgive our fellow man. When we do this, we are in the service of our Heavenly Father and His Son, Jesus Christ, and we come closer to them. I love how the church encourages me to strive to be a better person.

How I live my faith

Currently I serve in my church as a ward missionary to share the gospel with others not of our faith. I am also a home teacher for several families and take seriously my responsibility to teach my children the gospel of Jesus Christ. In the past I have served as a youth advisor and scout master. Each of these opportunities to serve have helped me to grow closer to my Heavenly Father and my loved ones.
