Hi I'm Steven

I was raised a farmer, switched to computers, and built my own house. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up on a farm and became a computer geek. In my career, I've farmed, cleaned buildings, programmed laser controls, developed satellite experiments, worked on 3D x-ray, and supported digital dental products. I'm married and we have eight children. I enjoy all sports, the outdoors, farms, family reunions, reading, and, well, computers.

Why I am a Mormon

You could say I'm a Mormon because my parents are, as is most of our extended family. However, much like a young animal is protected in its parents' environment until it can stand on its own, I was given a wonderful childhood in which to develop and explore. As I started asking questions about life, what I wanted, and how I felt about me and my world, I realized the answers are in the Gospel of Jesus Christ. As I search for the truth, I am continually rewarded by the teachings of Christ and the organization of His church on earth. The jewels of the Gospel are to be sought and treasured that which is found too easily is valued too lightly. The Lord's promise is true Knock, and it shall be opened unto you.

How I live my faith

The sign of our faith is in the lives of the members. I try to remember this, as well as the admonition of Christ in Matthew 516, so that my actions will be consistent with the truth I have learned, and that those actions will be a witness to others that my testimony is more than a platitude. In our local congregation, I currently teach the Gospel Doctrine class to the adults. I find a lot of satisfaction as I prepare the lessons each week and learn more of the teachings of Christ as found in the scriptures, both ancient and modern. I have an opportunity to serve others in our congregation as I visit in their homes, encouraging them in their efforts to be disciples of Christ, and sharing in their strength and wisdom. My faith permeates my life and gives greater meaning to everyday activities.

To what do you attribute the growth of the Church?

The honest in heart, seeking for truth, resonate with the Gospel of Christ. When the Holy Spirit bears witness of the truth, our souls are drawn to the source of living water and we naturally come to Christ. Show more Show less

Can husband and wife be together forever? Do you believe that families will live together in heaven?

Through the ordinances performed in the holy temples, husband, wife, and children can be sealed together as an eternal unit. In fact, the family is more than the fundamental unit of society- it is essential to God's plan for our happiness both in this life and in the life to come. Show more Show less
