Hi I'm Ryne

I teach high school, I love learning random facts and exercising my overactive imagination, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I teach high school in an urban area. I've taught for a few years now. Every day is a very exciting opportunity, but also a bit of a scary one. I hope I can make a difference for every student who walks through the door. Music has always been a part of my life: I love to sing, I love to play the piano, and I dabble in amateur songwriting. I like to write, play, or fiddle around with video or graphics editing programs on my computer, when I have the chance. I recently played the game Undertale with one of my sisters and we had a BLAST! I love good storytelling in any form.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I know that this church (the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints) is the true Church of Jesus Christ! I believe that after people killed the Apostles and the church was lost, God called another prophet to restore His Church upon the earth. We really do have a prophet who leads us today like Moses led the children of Israel. I have read the Book of Mormon and prayed to know if it is true and if this was really God's church. God answered my prayer through the Holy Ghost, and through the way I felt in answer to my prayers, I recognized that I was receiving an answer from Heavenly Father Himself. It took me a while to recognize the answer because I am naturally a skeptic and a questioner—but when I finally got my answer from God, I knew it. Ultimately for me, I realized that God had been giving me proof of the truth of the church over many years, but there was also a distinct "aha" moment where I could tell God was communicating the truth to me, and I couldn't doubt it (or myself) any longer. As I continue to study the gospel, pray, and serve in the church, I continue to receive assurances from Heavenly Father through the Holy Ghost that I am in the right place. I don't have all the answers, but I keep learning bit by bit, and I hold on to what I've learned to be true.

How I live my faith

There are many scriptures that talk about charity, "the pure love of Christ." I try to live my faith by interacting with others in the uplifting way that Jesus would. There are some days where I feel like I'm successful with this, but I definitely have my "off" days too. Thanks to the Atonement of Jesus Christ, I know I'll have Christ's help to keep improving!
