Hi I'm Mick

I manage the city where I live, have five great kids, love to fly fish. I'm a Mormon

About Me

My day job includes making sure all the services of our City are running smoothly and working to bring new businesses to our community. I work with great people and feel like what we do really adds quality to people's lives. My night job can revolve around home work projects, coaching basketball or watching our girls play volleyball. With five children, it's never a dull moment. When it starts to feel like I'm being pulled in a hundred directions, I like to still away to a favorite trout stream. There is something about the pace and grandeur of the wilderness that puts everything into it's proper perspective.

Why I am a Mormon

I was very fortunate to be raised by loving parents who taught me at a young age about our Heavenly Father and His Son, Jesus Christ. As I've gotten older, that simple belief has grown in both depth and breadth and provided me a sure foundation to build my life on. Life can be so difficult at times. We can be faced with so many difficult decisions, plagued by doubt or hurt by people or circumstance. Some times none of it seems to make any sense. Through all of those ups and downs, I've been able to turn to my Heavenly Father. I feel like I know Him and He knows me, He is my Father and loves and cares for me. What great peace and direction that has given me in life and what happiness I feel in gaining an understanding of His plan for my life.

How I live my faith

I really love attending and serving in Church. One of the great things about the Mormon faith is that we don't have any paid ministers. This means that all of the members have opportunities to serve each other. I have been so blessed by the opportunities to serve that I've been given in our Church. Right now I have responsibility to work with 10 different congregations in mine and neighboring communities. I have worked for over 20 years in successful business, government and volunteer organizations and that has been gratifying. But really nothing can compare to the spirit of love and charity that permeates the Mormon Church as an organization. Working with the leaders of these congregations has been very humbling. To rub shoulders with people who give so much of their time and talents to serve others and who love our Savior Jesus Christ has enriched my life immeasurably.

Are Mormons Christians?

Mick
I think of a Christian as a follower or disciple of Jesus Christ. That means we want to know what He taught and we want to do what He did. The Mormon Church has helped me gain an understanding of Jesus Christ and the faith to follow Him. Are Mormons Christians? Absolutely! Show more Show less
