Hi I'm Amber

I'm a mom, a former nurse and a current fitness instructor. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a former critical care nurse turned SAHM to my two beautiful children. I also teach fitness classes (Zumba and BODYPUMP) at my local YMCA. I love breaking a sweat and enjoy motivating my class members to do more than they thought their bodies could do. I also love reading and cooking/baking. I've been married to my wonderful eternal companion for 6 years and I love him more each day.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in the church and have been attending since I was a child. However, regardless of what religion one is raised in, there is always that defining moment when you stop believing because you were raised that way and start believing because you have developed your own testimony. For me that was around age 14 when I was praying to know if the church was true and I had an overwhelming feeling that brought me to tears. The answer I received was that I had always known the church was true. It was something that has always been inside of me. I am Mormon because I know the church is true with all my heart. I am Mormon because it makes me happy and makes my family happy. I am Mormon because it helps me to be more like my Savior Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by regularly attending my church meetings and by serving the women in our ward by planning weeknight activities that strengthen their home, family, and testimonies.

Why don’t women hold the priesthood in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints? How do Mormon women lead in the Church?

In the church, only worthy males are able to receive the priesthood. However, the priesthood isn't a status symbol. It's the power to act in God's name in serving OTHER people. As a woman I have never felt less than any man because I don't have the priesthood. Rather, I really feel like our church teaches men to revere women and to treat us like princesses. I have access to and have benefited from the priesthood just as much as any member, male or female. In the church women do hold leadership positions. There are women leaders over the children's organization, the youth organization, and the women's organization. Also women are the leaders in the their homes as they work along side their husbands to run the family unit. Show more Show less

Do you really believe there is a prophet like Moses alive today?

Just like in the Bible when God sent prophets to testify of Him, I know there is a living prophet on the earth today. His name is Thomas S. Monson and his purpose is to guide the church and receive revelation from God on how His church should be run. It is wonderful to have a current prophet alive on the earth who speaks for our Savior and helps us to live better lives. Show more Show less

Can husband and wife be together forever? Do you believe that families will live together in heaven?

One of my favorite doctrines of the church is that I get to live forever with my husband and children. We aren't married "until death do us part" rather we are sealed together for "time and all eternity." Which means, regardless of what happens to me or any of my family in this life I will get to be reunited with them again. I love my family more than anything else, and it brings me great comfort to know that they will always be mine. Show more Show less
