Hi I'm Kathy

I'm a mother of 6 wonderful children and am a therapist working children and families. I'm a cancer survivor and...I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Hi! I'm a single mom of 6 adult children and am the grandmother of 4 amazing grandsons. My favorite way to spend free time is reading, experiencing art, history, and nature, and visiting with friends and family. I earned my MSW after my children were grown. Now I have the great privilege of working as a therapist with children, many of whom have experienced severe trauma and/or abuse and/or neglect. Even though none of my clients are members of the church, many of them or their caregivers share stories with me of great faith that has sustained them through their trials. I nod in agreement and smile, as I too know the power of faith in my own life.

Why I am a Mormon

I joined the church in my late twenties after searching for something that made sense to me and answered my zillion searching questions. I remember laughing to myself at the time because I never thought I would find so many answers, so much knowledge, which I knew deeply to be true! That was 30 years ago and I continue to be amazed at how my life has been blessed, and how my understanding has increased beyond anything I ever could have imagined. I can't imagine how I would have made it though all the ups and downs of my life without knowing what I know, and in whom I believe and trust with all my heart, namely Jesus Christ .

How I live my faith

I try to live the principles of the gospel by helping others wherever I can. On Sundays I teach the 14-15 year old young women in our ward. I also visit 5 of the sweetest women (members) each month to share a brief gospel message, learn about them, develop friendships, and love and help them any way I can. In my community I'm a volunteer literacy tutor and teach reading to adults who never learned to read before.
