Hi I'm Lydie Morrison Strasburg

Hi, I'm Lydie, a Mormon. 61, married, 5 kids, 2 grandchildren, marketing director, poet, people lover, cook, Austen/Bronte fan.

About Me

I am a mom of 5, grandma to two granddaughters, and married to my best friend, Gary for almost 40 years. I am a part-time marketing director for a family based restaurant and I lo-o-o-ve people. I write ditties, serious poetry, and love children. I love learning, especially about people (surprise!!) places, and things.I always wanted to be a Mom and find that experience comes in handy in my job. My children have helped me become a better person. I love Austen, Bronte, and Agatha Christie movies. I am a vegetarian, Breast Cancer survivor, and former in-home daycare provider.

Why I am a Mormon

My parents joined the church when I was 5. They weren't always active, but made sure that we children(6 of us) went to our church in West Virginia. I had to know for myself if it was the right thing for me, and at 19 with inspiration from two friends, I did by reading the Book Of Mormon and the Bible . I read the New Testament and the Book of Mormon and was especially touched by Paul, the Apostle, and Alma, a Book Of Mormon prophet and their conversion from not following Heavenly Father, to being obedient to Him. I have had so many spiritual witnesses through the Holy Ghost that have shown me that My Heavenly Father and my Savior Jesus Christ know me individually. I know that Joseph Smith was a prophet of God and was God's instrument in restoring the true church of our Savior here again on the earth. The Holy Ghost has testified this to me many many times and I can't deny it.

How I live my faith

I try everyday to be a good person, some days are better than others because I've paid the price a little more to feel the Holy Spirit. I study scriptures daily, (Book of Mormon, Bible, etc) and talk with Heavenly Father through prayer throughout the day. I also believe serving others is the key to spiritual growth,(faith without works is dead-James 2:17) Our church is a lay(no pay) church and I have done many things as a volunteer. Cub Scouts, nursery, Young Women leader, women' leaders organization, etc. It is so rewarding to get out of your comfort zone and see how you can stretch and grow. I didn't know I could write until I served in a church position in which I had to write a newsletter and my friend told me how well I wrote. I realized that I was given that gift. I love Heavenly Father , He has given me so much and the least I can do for what He and His son have done for me is to serve in some small or big measure.

Why was a Restoration of the Gospel needed? Haven’t we always had the Bible?

Lydie Morrison Strasburg
I love the Bible!!! It has many great and important truths. But through time, and less-inspired men who translated it, many truths and the Authority from the Savior was lost . His church needed to be restored with all the Authority and ordinances that He had when He was on the Earth. God is a God of truth and not confusion. Even though there are many good people and many good churches on the earth today, only one can be called His church. He wouldn't confuse us. It is up to us to find that church and I believe I have. But don't take my word for it, pray about it yourself, I did!! Show more Show less
