Hi I'm Jenny
I'm Mommy, and I'm a Mormon.
I'm a stay-at-home mom of three very young kids. I've only been out of school a few years. I always considered myself a bit of an academic, but I'm discovering a much richer depth to life in being a mom. I got my BS degree in genetics, but now I've switched mental efforts to learning to eat healthier, bake bread, sew, live frugally, and raise capable and conscientious children.
Why I am a Mormon
I am a Mormon because of the peace that Jesus Christ brings into my life through the scriptures, the guidance of the Holy Spirit, and modern revelation. I love knowing that God knows me and knows what I can handle. Life is hard, but we've received a promise though the Prophet Joseph Smith in the book of Doctrine and Covenants that if we search, pray, and believe, all things will work together for our good. As a faithful Mormon, I've got "all things" on my side. Who could ask for more?
How I live my faith
I work with girls age eight through eleven. We have a twice a month evening activity to strengthen their faith in God. Sometimes we have deep discussions over scripture stories, but mostly we teach self-respect through games or learning new skills in a warm and safe environment. On a less formal level, I spend a lot of time around other young mothers sharing emotional support and ideas. Having a connection with other women strengthens all of us as we help those in need, receive help when we are in need, and get a fresh perspective.
