Hi I'm Daniel Dayton

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Currently I am a senior in college. I am studying molecular biology and will graduate in June 2011. I love anything sports related. I play basketball, soccer, football, and go running often. I am involved in a mentoring program and I work with a young man and sometimes his nephew. I have been working with them for about a year now. I enjoy reading books such as Harry Potter and The Chronicles of Narnia. When I get the chance I play the piano. Finally, I love spending time with my brothers, parents, grandparents, and other friends.

Why I am a Mormon

First of all, I want to be one. My parents are both members of the Mormon Church, and they taught me the teachings of said church. I have now lived away from my parents for several years. While I was still living at home, and I was in my mid teens, I had a great respect for my parents. I knew that they believed that the Mormon Church was the Church of Jesus Christ, but I didn't know for myself. I decided that I needed to learn and know if the Mormon Church was indeed Christ’s Church. I started paying more attention to what was said and taught at church. I read the Book of Mormon with a desire to know if it was true. I had been taught and believed that God could answer prayers, so I prayed to know if the Mormon Church was His Church. I didn't see any angels or hear a voice, but I felt peace in my heart. I felt that this was God's way of telling me that the Mormon Church is His Church and is where I am supposed to be. I continue to attend church today and still have that feeling of peace. I love learning about my Savior Jesus Christ and it is my desire to follow His teachings and example. My experience as a Mormon and a believer in Jesus Christ has brought me peace and joy. I always want to have that peace and joy and I know I can and will if I continue to follow the example of our Savior.

How I live my faith

I attend my local meetings weekly. I love listening to the messages about Jesus Christ. I read the Book of Mormon, as well as the Bible. I love listening to the comments made by other church members and how they have had their faith increased. I have helped organize fun events for the men in our local church. At other times, I have taught Bible and Book of Mormon lessons to other members my age. At least once a month, I go and visit some members of the church and share with them a message about Christ or His teachings. I try to go to the Mormon temples at least once a month and feel the peace that comes with going to the house of God. I try to live in such a way that others will know that I am a follower of Jesus Christ.
