Hi I'm Kurtis

I'm a dad, a husband, a surgeon and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a surgeon by trade, a dad of 5 five daughters, and married to my best friend for 15 years. I've lived throughout the United States but still call Wisconsin home. I dream of retiring young and putting my private pilots license to good use. I've attempted without success to steer my girls towards soccer, golf and basketball to no avail; so I've learned to cultivate an interest in ballet, Barbies and babydolls. When I'm not dreaming of flying Cessnas or being called on by NASA to command a space shuttle, I like to spend time travelling with my wife.

Why I am a Mormon

My dad had a hand in converting my mother while he was serving a mission in the Southwestern United States. Both were a huge example to my brothers and sisters of how to live a Christ-like life. It seems to me that I've always had a testimony of Jesus Christ and known that this church was the true church. My parents' examples, family scripture study, serving in the church, family home evening, and various other gospel-centered activities brought happiness to our home growing up. I'm glad that I get to share these same experiences with my own children. My testimony of this church is strong because I live the gospel of Jesus Christ as best I can. That was my parents' legacy to me and I hope to pass it along to my own children.

How I live my faith

I'm currently serving as a counselor in the men's organization of our ward. I get to teach lessons and visit with members routinely. As a physician I'm frequently called on by the Scouts to help them with various merit badges. I also find myself serving others by helping neighbors and other members of the church who have injured themselves.

Why is family so important to Mormons?

This is perhaps the greatest belief that we share which is that we can be a family together forever in this life and the next life. It is incredible to think that our Father in Heaven loves us so much that he gave each and everyone of us a family. Since the only things we can take with us from this earth life to the next life are our memories, experiences, knowledge, faith and relationships, it suddenly becomes so clear why family is so important. All of those things are what family is made of. Families can be together forever . . . Amazing. Show more Show less
