Hi I'm Shavonne

I'm a wife. I'm a mother. I teach. I learn. I smile. I am a daughter of God. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I am a mother expecting my first child. I love people and helping them to reach their potential. Every time I have the opportunity to teach or share, my heart just sings with joy. I love the outdoors, writing, singing and dancing. I grew up in two states, Utah and Indiana. While Utah served as a big chunk of my life, I claim Indiana as my home. That is where 2 of my sisters and my parents live. The rest are scattered over the western US. Some people think of me as the girl that everybody loves. I am simply trying to be the best child of God I can. I love my husband. He teaches how to stand for what I know to be right, instead of avoiding the conflict that may or may not ensue. He is a great example to me of courage and integrity. We met while serving missions in Long Beach, CA, though he won't readily admit to serving there. His heart lies in Brasil where he was originally called. We hope to raise a family in righteousness once we finish school.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into an LDS family. My family has been Mormon for a very long time. I decided to continue actively participating in this church because I felt the truth of it's teachings in my heart. Every day I can find evidences of God's love for me and His plan for me. I know that I am greatly blessed because of my decisions. There comes a point in everyone's life where they feel they need to have a "point" or direction. I have gained a greater understanding of my purpose in life by simply living the gospel as taught in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. We live in a great time where prophets live on the earth and teach us God's Plan of Happiness. Through this plan, I have come to know where I came from, why I am here and where I am going after this life. I know that I can trust in God with all of my struggles because He loves me. We are all His children. I know we will one day return to live with Him again. This is why I choose to remain in this religion.

How I live my faith

I live my faith through my actions. Going through middle and high school with only one other Mormon in your graduating class was an excellent opportunity for me to be an example. Now that I am in Utah, I am still that example to friends back home as well as new friends I've made here. I live my faith through constant scripture study, prayer and service. I love to serve those around me. My favorite kind of service involved being outdoors but really, I'll take almost anything. I like to serve because it reminds me of how God loves all of His children. When we lift each other up, we grow together and strengthen each other. Living the faith isn't always easy. It requires constant dedication. Improvement and progressing must be made every day or all those years of hard work becomes undone. As a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, I have to be dedicated. It's what brings me joy.
