Hi I'm Cheryl

I am a mother, an airbrush artist and instructor and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have 3 sisters and 4 daughters and one terrific husband! I have been an airbrush artist for 30 years and have recently become an instructor. I love Halloween and airbrushing monster makeup, and face painting at parties. I also paint watercolors, play pretty good tennis, and like living in the desert.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born in Utah, but surprisingly did not know much about the Mormon religion. Although I was baptized into the Mormon faith (at my grandmother's request), my family did not go to church. When I entered high school, they offered religion classes so I decided to take one because my friends were. It was an Old Testament class, and for the first time I was learning about Jesus Christ. I was fascinated! I remembered sitting there thinking, "You've got to be kidding me! All this was out there and I didn't know anything about it?" I was in awe at the wonders of the plan of salvation and what the Savior has done for me and all mankind. As a Senior, I took a Book of Mormon class. It supported all I had learned about the Bible, and I believed what the instructor was teaching us was true. However, at the end of the semester, he asked me if I knew what he had been teaching was true. I was surprised I could not look him in the eye and say yes. I wanted to know, so on his suggestion, I prayed each day before reading the Book of Mormon and asked God to please let me know if it is true. Then, one morning while on my way to school, I had a distinct impression; a thought come to my mind along with a strong feeling in my heart that said, "What you have been reading is true". It is hard to describe but something in my heart changed that day. I knew the Book of Mormon was true! It is something I have never forgotten and it helped set the direction of my life from there on out.

How I live my faith

I am currently what is called a Ward Missionary. I get to visit those who are in my neighborhood who are interested in learning more about the teachings of our religion and are being formally taught by the Mormon missionaries. I sometimes sit in on the discussions they are having and share my thoughts on how the Gospel of Jesus Christ has been a blessing to me and my family. I am also a youth leader for the 10 and 11 year old girls who attend our church. We meet twice a month after school to help them learn to live the gospel, serve others, and use their talents. Its fun and a great opportunity for me to use my creativity.

How can I find someone to talk with, in person, about the Mormon religion?

Cheryl
The best way to learn the fundamentals of the Mormon church is to invite the missionaries over! There are missionaries assigned to essentially every part of the world, so there are some near you! They may be young men in white shirts and ties, young women, or an elderly couple. There is no obligation and you may be surprised at how happy you feel having them in your home. They have set aside this time in their lives to share the message of the Savior and will appreciate your interest. You may request a visit by going to mormon.org and clicking on the Missionary Request link at the top of the page. Show more Show less
