Hi I'm Jesse

I am a typical college student. I am a Mormon!

About Me

I am a college student. I love sports of all types. If it is considered a sport I probably have watched it or played it. I recently got married. She is the love of my life.

Why I am a Mormon

My story is a very unique one at least in my eyes. My parents were both raised in the church but in their late teens decided not to follow the gospel anymore. When I came along they were involved in the partying scene. I had many friends that were members of the church when I was young maybe 4 or 5. I remember them not being allowed to play on sunday. I wanted to do what they were doing so I would start going to church by myself. My mom would drop me off and pick me up. I started staying later so my mom would have to come into the church to find me. She ended up starting to come to church and my dad followed suit a little later. We were sealed as a family in 1995. This is how the church came into my life. I, like most teenager, decided a little later that I needed to find out for myself what I believed. It took some time, effort and lots of praying but I eventually came to receive my own testimony of the truthfulness of the gospel of Jesus Christ. Moroni's Challenge is a true one. It helped me to understand the divinity of the Savior and his purpose in my life. I firmly can say that I have come to understand what I need to do to return to be with my Father in Heaven and to be with my family forever.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by the way I live daily. I try to pray and read my scriptures daily. This helps me to live more like Christ. We try to get together as a family on mondays to spend sometime having fun and learning about the gospel together. Each member of the congregation has a certain calling. The only one I have right now is to visit a couple families in the congregation and make sure that they are doing okay physical, spiritually and temporally. I also try to find time to do service in the local area and at the school I attend.

Why was a Restoration of the Gospel needed? Haven’t we always had the Bible?

Jesse
The restoration of the church was needed due to an apostasy that happened soon after the death of the apostles. The apostles were set up by Christ to be there to help clarify doctrine and to keep the church going forward smoothly. The apostles started to pass away and be killed at very rapid pace so much so that they could not return to come together to choose apostles to take the place of those who had passed away. This ultimately led to the apostasy. We did however still have the Bible and many took that and tried to leave by the teachings in there. The problem that came with that was the fact that there was no apostles to clarify the teaching within. This made it so everyone would interpret the teachings themselves and we would have different ideas on what is right and what not. The need for a restoration is due to this. We need the same organization and authority that was around in the times of the prophets and when Christ was on the earth. The authority was restored to Joseph Smith by John the Baptist and Peter James and John.  Show more Show less
