Hi I'm Nikki

I love traveling and adventures. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a graduate student studying sustainable tourism who loves traveling and doing anything fun! Currently I am working as a volunteer in Moldova helping with community development. I especially love being outdoors - whether its hiking or running or swimming or playing a little ultimate frisbee.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in an LDS home and my parents always emphasized the importance of each of their children knowing the gospel and choosing to live it. We were encouraged to study the scriptures and then to pray and ask God if these things were true. When I was about 14 I finally decided that my parents were right, that I needed to know if the gospel of Jesus Christ had been restored to the earth. I studied and studied. I prayed and prayed. The answer for me didn't come immediately, or maybe it did but I didn't recognize it. It took me several months of earnest studies and prayers before one day as I was sitting in my room reading the text of the hymn we had sung in church that day. It said: "The witness of the Holy Ghost, as born by those who know," A warm feeling encompassed me and right then I knew that the things I had been praying about were true and that I had always known. I wish I could say that I never doubted or wavered after that but I have and each time I once again ask Heavenly Father and each time a confirmation comes. I know The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is God's true and living church on this earth and it contains the fullness of truth about His son, Jesus Christ and His plan for our happiness. I know because I asked.

How I live my faith

I live my faith many different ways. My beliefs influence every part of my life from the movies I watch to the way I spend my time. Every morning I try to devote time to studying the scriptures. As I do, I can feel the promptings of the Holy Ghost, which help me better live as God would have me. Sometimes the Holy Ghost will prompt me to talk to someone, or to call someone, or do something nice for someone. God uses us as His messengers here on earth if we are willing to listen what he asks us to do. I am also a missionary in my congregation. I get to visit those who maybe be struggling and also reach out to those who may want to know more about the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I know that here on this earth we are all God's children and nothing makes our Heavenly Father happier than to see His children helping one another through the trials of this life.

Do Mormons regard the Bible as Holy Scripture and the word of God?

Nikki
We know that the Bible contains the word of God. It helps us draw closer to our Savior Jesus Christ. We regard the Bible as scripture. We use the King James version of the Bible and believe it to be the most correct translation. Much can be learned from the Bible to help us understand God's plan for us. As I have prayfully studied the Bible, I have learned many important truths. Show more Show less

What is the Book of Mormon?

Nikki
The Book of Mormon is a volume of scripture, similar to the Bible only written by a different people in a different land. It is a record of the people in the Ancient Americas and God's dealing with them. It begins around 600 BC and goes until about 400 AD. After the Savior's Resurrection, He appeared to the people in the Americas to minister to them and to teach them His doctrine. These people knew of and believed in Jesus Christ and had prophets, called of God, who kept this record. These records were compiled by a prophet-historian named Mormon. This record has been translated in our day to help us draw closer to our Savior, Jesus Christ. I invite you to read from it, ponder it's message, and pray and ask God if it is true. Show more Show less
