Hi I'm Kaela

I'm a missionary serving in the Massachusetts Boston Mission, spanish-speaking. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in Olathe, Kansas. I served a mission in Boston, MA from 2009-2011, speaking Spanish. It's the best thing I've ever done-I LOVED it! I am currently studying Exercise Science at Brigham Young University, and am minoring in Spanish and Portuguese. I love doing anything outside...ANYTHING.

Why I am a Mormon

Well, I was raised in the church. My mom and dad are wonderful people, and they taught me (and my brothers) that going to church was important, as well as living the gospel of Jesus Christ and following His example. BUT, just as Heavenly Father does, there came a point in my life when they let me choose. They didn't make me go to church. They didn't make me read my scriptures or go to seminary (that's an early-morning church study, for anyone who doesn't know) or even say my prayers each day. I had to choose whether or not I would continue on the path that I'd been brought up on. And from those decisions that I made, I've been able to learn where true happiness is found. Through my own experiences I've come to learn that this gospel really is the way that Heavenly Father has prepared for us to return to live with Him. Our obedience to His laws is crucial for our salvation, as is the Atonement of Jesus Christ. Without the Atonement, our lives are hopeless and lacking in purpose. I know that all the things we go through in this life, good and bad, sad and happy, pleasant and painful, are for our benefit so that we can become more like our Heavenly Father. And ANY time we feel like giving up, we can remember that Christ understands all we go through. Knowing these things has truly blessed my life. I've seen it bless the lives of others; not only as a missionary, but in my own family as well. The knowledge that I have because of the gospel and the incredible blessings I've received through it are an unquestionable demonstration of the love the God has for each one of us, His children.

How I live my faith

Just as Christ, we demonstrate our faith by the way we live our lives: by our example. I've had many opportunities to participate in the community of the church, where ever I've been. Right now I'm serving a full time misson (18months) in Boston, MA. That means that I have chosen to give up this time to do what Jesus Christ did; preach His gospel to everyone and try to help people come closer to Him by helping them make correct decisions. And you might say, 'Well, that's quite a long time sacrifice; you have to give up family and school and jobs for that amount of time. Is it worth it?' And my answer without hesitation would be YES. It is so amazing to have the chance to serve the Lord.
