Hi I'm Emily

I am a Mom, a Wife, a Singer, a Cancer Fighter, and a wannabe Runner. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I love music. I love choirs, musicals, symphonies, any type of music really. I love to sing, and you will find me singing pretty much 85% of the waking day. I like to sing everything from hymns, to songs on the radio, to musicals, to what I am feeling or doing in the moment! I hope to plant the love of music and singing in my children. I love the great outdoors. I love to go camping, hiking, riding bikes, swimming, running, really any outdoor activity! I am a lover of foods. Eating is one of my favorite pastimes. I love art and I would consider myself an okay artist. My favorite medium in charcoal or pencil. I love my family. I was extremely blessed to be born in the covenant to loving and devoted parents. I always wanted to be a mother because, frankly, I have a wonderful one. She taught me how to love and to see beauty in everything. My earthly father honors the Priesthood and is a hard worker. I knew I wanted to find someone like that, and I did! My husband is fantastic and he gave me my most precious gift. He gave me my two beautiful children. I love being a mom. It is so much of who I am.

Why I am a Mormon

I have always had a testimony of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I think it was built upon my mothers testimony and I never doubted and just always knew. It wasn't until February of 2014 that I had a truly ah-ha moment when it was loudly and blatantly stated that it was true. That God has a plan for me. My whole life I had been getting these feelings, which now looking back I know are promptings, that I would have to battle Cancer in my lifetime. I just never thought it would be when I was 25 and had two babies age 2 and 6 months. When I was diagnosed, I prayed. I prayed hard, and long and asked Heavenly Father for guidance. I remember feeling like he wrapped his arms around me and telling me that he has been preparing me for this. That through the Savior and His Atoning sacrifice I can do anything, handle anything, be anything. I can grow stronger and be better because of this. I am a mother to two wonderful children. They teach me so much everyday. I never knew that I could love this much and it makes me think how great our Savior, Jesus Christ, and our Heavenly Father are. I know they love us so much more than we can comprehend. I know this church is true. I know it with all my heart. I love it. I love the Prophet and everything I learn from him. I know Joseph Smith is a true prophet and that he did restore the Gospel in these latter days, and that he did translate the Book of Mormon. I know that book to be true, and when I have questions I can go there to get answers. I am a Mormon because I know that it is true. I strive to the be kind of person Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ wants me to be.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by showing and sharing my faith. I also try to be actively engaged in Visiting Teaching. I previously have been in the primary, ward choir director, relief society music conductor, and in collage I was a relief society greater for a while. I learned so much from all of my callings, I love to be around the children and to feel their sweet spirits and their testimonies. When I share the gospel with others I feel my testimony grow significantly. I love the Gospel.
