Hi I'm Audra

I'm a Southern California native. I love to spend time at the beach with my family. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a wife and mother to three energetic kids. After earning a degree in British History and marrying my college sweetheart, I enjoyed several years working as an event planner for undergraduate admission departments. Currently my days are consumed with the needs of our children. We like to read books, go to the zoo, and laugh together. When I get some time to myself, I love to experiment with a new recipe and get lost in a good book.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I know God answers prayers. My parents are both strong members of the Mormon faith and taught me the doctrines of the gospel. While I always knew that they knew the church was true, as a teenager I began to feel a desire to experience this confirmation for myself. I studied the scriptures, tried my best to follow the commandments, and prayed privately every night before going to bed. The result was an undeniable feeling of peace and love that confirmed to me that what I was reading and living were true. While I did not see a vision, hear a voice, or discover any scientific "proof," the power of what I felt was no less real to me. This knowledge that a Heavenly Father existed and was mindful of me gave me courage to continue living the gospel, even when it sometimes felt difficult or unpopular. I believe my experience is not unique and that God desires a relationship with all of His children who are willing to humbly seek Him and ask for answers.

How I live my faith

Mormons believe that "faith without works is dead," so a Mormon lifestyle is a busy one! However, I love participating in a church that is a force for so much good in the world. In the past I have had opportunities to teach a Sunday school class to young children, plan youth group activities for teenagers, and organize monthly visits to women in need. I also feel I live my faith by trying to choose those things that would uplift myself and my family, rather than degrade. This means that we are mindful about the way we dress, the kind of movies and music we have in our home and the types of activities we participate in. While this might seem confining to some, I have found this helps me feel closer to my Heavenly Father.

How can faith in Jesus Christ influence us in our marriages and family relationships? in our friendships?

No one starts out as a perfect spouse, parent or friend. I know I make mistakes as I struggle to balance my own desires with those of my husband and children. However, by atoning for our sins Jesus Christ provides the means for us to repent, move on and improve. This gives me great hope! When I am mindful of His sacrifice for me, I am more willing to try and make sacrifices for others. When I feel of His unconditional love, I in turn feel and show increased love. And when I'm not sure how to handle a problem with a family member or friend, I know I can look to His perfect example of compassion and forgiveness.  Show more Show less
