Hi I'm April

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm 35 and a Mom of 3 boys and a girl. I am four months along in expecting our fifth child. I have a degree in teaching Psychology and Spanish but had our first son right after graduation and decided my most important job was to stay home and care for and teach our growing family. I feel lucky in being able to do so. I have lived in various States in the US (California, Washington, Utah, Colorado, Utah, Ohio, Florida, Missouri, and Texas) and have traveled to a few countries worldwide (Ecuador, Mexico, Israel, Africa, Spain, Thailand, Cambodia, Malaysia, Belize). I served a mission for my church for a year and a half in Malaga, Spain. My husband and I met while working on a tourist train in Alaska. My husband is an orthodontist. I have had 5 knee surgeries on one knee which has left me unable to run, a sport I really enjoyed. But I also love biking and walking now and anything that will get me out of doors. I love creating things and having any sort of adventure.

Why I am a Mormon

My parents were Mormon. I was born into the church and baptized at 8 years old. I have always loved things of a spiritual nature and throughout my life have sought and recieved answers to prayer. As I was taught the gospel of Jesus Christ in the Mormon church I tried to put it into practice, test it, and live it. In more ways than I could explain here I have felt it to be true. I have felt it so strong and seen it so clearly that it has felt almost tangible at times. I love this Church, I love the teachings of the Savior that I learn as I attend church and my meetings. I love the experiences and opportunities it has given me. I love the perspective on life that it gives me. I love the peace and happiness and confidence I feel as I live the gospel. I love the leaders and the fact that none of them are paid. We are all volunteers here, just helping eachother and tryign to live as Jesus did. I love the fact that you don't have to take anyones word for it that this church is true, we are all invited to find out on our own and for ourselves, in a very personal way, that this Church and this gospel are the Savior Jesus Christ's, and He leads and guides it today. I know this to be true and that is why I'm Mormon.

How I live my faith

I try and live my faith by reading the scriptures, and praying and serving others on a daily basis. It seems simple, and it is, but it gives me opportunity to communicate and recieve communication from my Heavenly Father and to try and do what he would have me do. When I try and look outward it refines me inwardly. I also volunteer my time at church. Right now I am volunteering by working with 8 year old boys in the Scouting program. I really enjoy it and look at it as an opportunity to help them have good clean fun, learn new skills, and become wonderful young men with high ideals and standards. I also just finished helping put together a large youth festival where 500 Mormon teens gathered for fun Western activities, food and a dance. It was a great success and gave these Mormon youth a chance to have fun and mingle with youth of the same faith and enjoy good, clean fun!
