Hi I'm Maytha
I am excited to be alive! I have been married for 41 years and am the mother of four, grandmother of 10. Life with grandchildren is full of surprises and fun. I live and work with my husband, and we own and operate a mortgage business Georgia. My husband and I enjoy gardening, cooking, and traveling to visit our grandchildren together. I am a health nut, and I love learning all I can about keeping my body healthy. I have fun sewing and am crazy about Zumba!
Why I am a Mormon
I was born to Latter Day Saint parents. Being Mormon was a family tradition that went back to pioneer ancestors on both sides. But when I was a young mother, I decided I really needed to know whether the Church was true for myself. I read the Book of Mormon again, and prayed to know whether it was true. I received a clear and sweet answer that the Book of Mormon is divine and that Joseph Smith is a prophet. I have learned from years of experience that following a modern day prophet is the surest way to happiness and safety in this life. As I study the scriptures, pray, try to keep the commandments, I know more and more that this is Jesus Christ's church and that being a member will help me be more like HIm. The longer I live, the more I love and want to be like the Savior, and I know this Church teaches the whole truth about Him.
Which of the Savior’s teachings have influenced you in your life?
I have been so blessed by the Savior's teaching that love is the most important commandment. Heavenly Father gives us commandments because He loves us, and the first and greatest commandment Jesus taught was that we love our Father in Heaven, and that we love every one we meet. Just the feeling I get when I do this is wonderful and makes me feel free.
How I live my faith
I am a visitng teacher. That means I visit sisters in my ward once a month and check on them to make sure they are doing well, or find out what they need and how I can help. This calling has blessed my life with close, loving friends and lets me get to know lots of different kinds of people. I also sing with the little children in nursery on Sunday. These children start coming to Nursery when they are 18 months old, and stay in nursery until they are 3. Singing time is fun and helps them feel their Heavenly Father's love. It is so interesting to watch how fast they learn and grow up!
